Next time, how about a formal congressional declaration of war. During that process we can hear from elected officials on related public policy issues:
Troop suicides, cost of private contractors, The VA, civilian & military casualties, exit strategy, GTMO, torture, 18 year old women registering for selective service, cost in dollars, use of the National Guard, security theater, cutback of benefits used to entice people to stay for multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, protecting American rights & freedoms, how heroin still makes it into the US, etc.
If your War on Terror troops are in the business of protecting America- why do heroin traffickers cross into the US free of screening, scanning, pat downs, special IDs, inspection of personal items, etc.
Newspeople- please try a little harder– it’s OK for you to ask these sorts of questions.
Heroin traffickers are frequently successful at what they do. If terrorists were just as interested in entering the US- it appears that federal departments and agencies would have no way to stop them.

In some cases the questions seem to relate to memorizing trivia.
More meaningful questions might relate to why checks and balances such as formal congressional declarations of war have gone away.

Why did the federal government divide adults into groups of first & second class citizens via the The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984?
Why are 18 year old men required to register for selective service while women of the same age opt out?
Why do elected officials, school principals & halftime sports announcers tell us that The Troops are fighting to defend American rights & freedoms?
US foreign policy goals and objectives are mapped out at the very highest levels of government.
Ask yourself- is there someone at the table- in those high level planning sessions- who makes sure that military operations overseas include a mission to protect American rights and freedoms?
Does someone make sure the mission is to defend the constitution?
Is there anyone who verifies that the mission is to protect our physical security?
How does the executive branch of government defend the constitution via US foreign policy?
Why are small children forced to memorize a pledge to a symbol- then repeat the pledge every morning at school?
Marriage vows are not repeated daily.
Judges & elected officials do not repeat an oath of office each morning at work.
People in the US Armed Forces do not repeat an oath of enlistment each morning at work.

Growth in compensation?
How about just letting people keep the same benefits they had when they did their first of multiple tours in Iraq or Afghanistan?
Recommendation-
Insert language into recruiting literature and enlistment documents stating that rules concerning benefits may change at any time & that no definite benefit package will be provided in exchange for 20 years of unrestricted worldwide service. No grandfather clause will apply. Have unit leaders refer to this disclaimer when promoting retention drives, giving re-enlistment speeches, etc.
Stop spending federal money on meaningless support the troops promotions, campaigns and VIP photo ops that are not connected in any way with public policy.

Recommendations for saving:
Phase out decades of ongoing, undeclared/unwon wars overseas. Phase out the Drug War, allow U.S. farmers to answer the global demand for Industrial Hemp.

Here at US Dept. of Credibility we are fans of Alternative/independent media.
How did it get this way?
Over time, newspeople working for mainstream outlets seem to have stopped asking questions and doing investigative stories.
In many cases- newspapers seem to post a press release from whatever agency was in involved in various operations. Stories related to The Drug War and Super Bowl security are a great example of this.
Paywalls mean less people will read, share and discuss news articles.
Our free and independent press recently informed us on Olympic Peninsula US Border Patrol operations.
The article reads like paid advertising or something produced by US Border Patrol public relations.
Most of the photos used in the article were provided by the federal government.

Maybe newspeople are confined by the bosses and the companies they work for due to loyalties towards elected officials, advertisers, big business, etc.

Imagine being told at work that you could be fired for drinking a glass of wine because a test could indicate you consumed alcohol sometime in the past 40 days.
Favorite objections to legalization:
“Your school bus driver, airline pilot, or heart surgeon will show up high at work.”
These folks have had access to marijuana for decades. Check with your HR department- employees across America are forbidden to report to work under the influence of alcohol, mind altering legal or illegal drugs or marijuana. Ditto for using any of these on the job. Employers maintain control Re: workplace standards of conduct. Still trying to figure out how using marijuana on New Year’s Eve matters days later on the job, but that is for employers to decide.
On the roads-

If this is an honest concern- what has the state been waiting on?

Maybe the Washington State Patrol has seen this as a non-issue.
Where is the marijuana related accident data of the past 20 years?
If there has been a problem on the roads- why did the Washington State Patrol make no recommendations on how to address the situation prior to the Nov 2012 election?
