KOMO News March 20th 2018:

Drone nearly hits Coast Guard helicopter over Port Angeles

Peninsula Daily News March 25th 2018:

Coast Guard aircrew member hurt in laser strike

“The Coast Guard has reported laser strikes in Port Angeles on April 20, 2015; Nov. 30, 2015; and Sept. 26, 2016; as well as on April 20 2016 near the Squalicum Harbor area of Bellingham where a Port Angeles helicopter crew and a Bellingham boat crew were training.”

The post-911 surveillance state (fusion centers, war on terror crime fighting tactics, license plate scanners, Homeland Security grant money, enhanced background checks, monitoring of e-mails, text messages, and social media sites, no fly/terror watch lists, Real ID, tracking of cell phones, use of drones, etc.) appears to have played no role in preventing the crimes described above.

On occasion, authorities will announce that no credible threat exists related to some event or location:

FBI: No threat to Houston after recent U.S. incidents

‘No known credible threats ’ ahead of Super Bowl, officials say

Baker: No threat to Massachusetts following NYC bike path rampage

Day after Las Vegas shooting: Homeland Security: No ‘specific credible threat’ to other public venues in US after Las Vegas shooting

If the good guys can tell what the bad guys will do before they do it- surely, these powerful crime fighting tools will be used to shut down gang and cartel activity, heroin trafficking, bank robberies, mass casualty shootings, etc.

It’s been done before-

Warship named in honor of catastrophic military failure:

“The USS NEW YORK (LPD 21), built with 7.5 tons of steel from the World Trade Center in her bow, was commissioned in New York City on Nov. 7, 2009.”

If the US Armed Forces were keeping us safe– first responders would have had a routine day at work on 911.

Never Forget-

The US Armed Forces were irrelevant in defending American rights and freedoms, our physical security, & The Constitution on 911.

Ditto for all other federal agencies and departments.

It’s been a long War on Terror for our freedoms

1983 Beirut barracks bombing (President Ronald Reagan)

1996 Khobar Towers bombing (President Bill Clinton)

25 years of war in Iraq (Presidents George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama)

March, 2016
U.S. Marine killed in Iraq rocket attack (President Barack Obama)

Passing the buck-

We are constantly told that The Troops are fighting for American rights & freedoms- as if the US Armed Forces function as some sort of giant civil rights organization.

When things don’t work out- we are told that politicians are at fault.

Maybe we should say that sometimes, The Troops, might protect our freedoms if politicians are properly engaged. Maybe, in some cases, the US Armed Forces provide for our physical security. Maybe that’s as good as it gets.

US foreign policy goals and objectives are mapped out at the very highest levels of government.

Ask yourself- is there someone at the table- in those high level planning sessions- who makes sure that military operations overseas include a mission to protect American rights and freedoms?

Does someone make sure the mission is to defend the constitution?

Is there anyone who verifies that the mission is to protect our physical security?

How does the executive branch of government defend the constitution via US foreign policy?

Does all this freedom mean it would be OK to grow a marijuana plant in the back yard?

Fusion centers, war on terror crime fighting tactics, license plate scanners, radar devices that peer inside homes, Homeland Security grant money, bulk collection of phone records, monitoring of e-mails, text messages, and social media sites, tracking of cell phones, use of drones, etc. are of no use in determining the whereabouts of a level two sex offender with multiple felony warrants for theft, identity theft, and drugs.

“Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect believed to be responsible for at least 15 robberies in south King and Pierce counties.”

No matter how advanced the surveillance state becomes- it doesn’t seem to be able to prevent the sorts of crimes that concern communities across America.

If the fugitive was a terrorist- he would have been stopped in the planning stages

This is what we are supposed to believe about how America is protected by fusion centers.

If the good guys can tell what the bad guys will do before they do it- surely, these powerful crime fighting tools will be used to shut down gang and cartel activity, heroin trafficking, bank robberies, child abduction, etc.

Love to see a reporter ask how the wars since 911 have made the homeland more secure.

Love to see a reporter ask how cash spent on the surveillance state (fusion centers, war on terror crime fighting tactics, license plate scanners, Homeland Security grant money, monitoring of e-mails, text messages, and social media sites, tracking of cell phones, use of drones, etc.) will prevent domestic terror strikes.

Trying to get the story straight:

The Pentagon confirmed the bulletin was issued, but downplayed its significance.

“This is nothing new for us,” Defense Department spokesman Col. Steve Warren told reporters. “The department has long been aware and mindful of the potential for homegrown extremism, and we have continued to encourage and to advise all of our personnel to exercise the maximum amount of vigilance.”

Looks like the surveillance state (fusion centers, war on terror crime fighting tactics, license plate scanners, Homeland Security grant money, monitoring of e-mails, text messages, and social media sites, tracking of cell phones, use of drones, etc.) will be powerless to stop terrorist activity in the US:

The post 911 surveillance state (fusion centers, war on terror crime fighting tactics, license plate scanners, Homeland Security grant money, monitoring of e-mails, text messages, and social media sites, tracking of cell phones, use of drones, etc.) appears to have played no role in preventing these crimes:

The people who run the surveillance state decide who fits into the terrorist category. When people who are not terrorists are not stopped- it does not count against the track record of attempting to prevent all major terror strikes after 911.

My take- terrorists aren’t trying very hard to disrupt the American way of life. If terrorists were trying just as hard as bank robbers and heroin traffickers- we’d be hearing about it more frequently.
