Fusion Centers
“…to prevent and respond to all threats and hazards.“
“The National Network of Fusion Centers (National Network) brings critical context and value to Homeland Security and Law Enforcement that no other federal or local organization can replicate. Fusion Centers accomplish this through sharing information, providing partners with a unique perspective on threats to their state or locality and being the primary contact between frontline personnel, state and local leadership and the rest of the Homeland Security Enterprise.”
“The National Network of Fusion Centers is the hub of much of the two-way intelligence and information flow between the federal government and our State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT) and private sector partners. The fusion centers represent a shared commitment between the federal government and the state and local governments who own and operate them. Individually, each is a vital resource for integrating information from national and local sources to prevent and respond to all threats and hazards. The enhanced collaboration between the federal government, SLTT and private sector partners represents the new standard through which we view homeland security.”

VP Harris does not seem comfortable with herself.
Running for POTUS, she is heading further into a world where things will be awkward over and again. She does not seem confident and well adjusted to her role.
At the start of her campaign, people would criticize her for not doing interviews and public appearances where unscripted questions would come up.
She has gone out now, and done the interviews and events in recent weeks. Each time, it seems like things don’t go as well as the campaign might like.
Lately, it seems like the campaign’s strategy is about stacking up an unlimited number of celebrity endorsements.

“I’ve paid far more attention to Kamala than I ever imagined I would with a presidential candidate, listening to her interviews, speeches, and so on.
I suspect that many people, even people who are her partisans, are realizing something quite shocking. It’s this: she knows less about policy, news, existing public controversies, and even recent history, than most people who read X or NYT or even just listen to the news on radio or TV. For that matter, I suspect that just about any person on the street knows more.
It’s like she hasn’t really paid much attention to anything for years. Interviewers are trying their best to be kind to her, but even the slightest bit of push on what she knows turns up a big nothing. It’s not that she is being cagey or clever. The trouble is that she truly does not know.
It’s hard to understand why. It could be that she has, for most of her career, been able to outsource knowledge and understanding to others. She has always just been a smiling face, the socializer, the spouter of bromides, and gotten by with faking it. After a while, it probably doesn’t feel like faking; it feels like this is the way the job is supposed to be. She has not known any other way.
Now she is expected to play the part of someone who knows some minimum something about a range of issues, and she simply cannot deal with it. What’s remarkable is that her champions are as mortified by this as anyone.”

Still OK with asking questions:
The Draft
Tulsi Gabbard speaks about a military draft:
They tried a draft during the Vietnam War. They found out they had to stop.
Last time there was a draft, children were raised by the WWII generation, in families where Mom and Dad were married to each other.
Positive on the campaign trail:
Big money donations, polling numbers and crowd estimates. High energy political rallies, big celebrity enthusiasm, big TV news and social media coverage. Support from people who made it to the very highest levels of government and politics.
Negative in Hometown, USA:
Camping on the sidewalk, frequent gunfire, illegal street racing, public consumption of fentanyl, organized shoplifting, etc.
Maybe a DOD draft sometime in the future?
What makes elected officials believe we have some sort of 1950s crop of citizens who would comply with a draft?
For sure, the ongoing breakdown of society does not encourage new enlistments.
The drug addicts camping on the sidewalk aren’t going to sign up. The people who are able are not wanting to serve a country that spends $51.6 billion (every 12 months) on US Dept. of Homeland Security that fails to create any shortage of opioids in the Puget Sound area, then yields the right of way to the sidewalk campers and those who want to protest on an interstate highway.
Some will say obese teens and young adults are to blame for the big recruiting crisis.
Thousands of young, intelligent and athletic Americans participate in college athletics each year. Certainly, they would qualify to enlist.
Zero questions from newspeople.
US Armed Forces Recruiting Crisis
Four-star officers and high level DOD civilians built careers made of undeclared/unwon wars. Now they must mastermind ways to recruit a new generation.
Decades of undeclared/unwon DOD wars is now the norm. Look and see if the new military aid packages create any wave of enthusiasm to sign up.
The breaking point will come at the US Armed Forces recruiting office.
Breaking Point Will Come At The US Armed Forces Recruiting Office
There is no WWII generation to encourage new enlistments like there was back in the Cold War era of the 1980s.
Would any newsperson ever ask:

Decades after the lessons of Vietnam, it feels like the people who run the Pentagon specialize in undeclared/unwon wars.
What would be your role in all this?
Would any newsperson ever ask any POTUS/VP candidate:
What happens when American families no longer send the young ones to enlist and will not support a draft?
Unfortunately, DOD spent the past 30 years or so, squandering credibility in distant lands and here at home.
During the last century, there was a tradition among American families where one generation after another would do time in uniform. This chain appears to be broken now.
Newspeople avoid asking: Why?
A few ideas:
Never Forget-
The US Armed Forces were irrelevant in defending American rights and freedoms, our physical security, & The Constitution on 911.
Ditto for all other federal agencies and departments.
The aftermath of the catastrophic military failure of 911.

Sorry, no newspeople available to ask:
Mr President,
Going back to the 1990 Operation Desert Shield,
How would American freedoms today be any different if US troops were never sent to Iraq?
Uncle Sam is having a hell of a time finding people to sign up for the US Armed Forces. Pretending that decades of undeclared/unwon wars are linked in any way with American freedoms is the kind of dishonesty that will snuff out the energy American families once had for encouraging young people to enlist.
Good luck with your US Armed Forces recruiting crisis.

Freedom?
Both major parties are OK with federal prohibition of alcohol and tobacco for adults age 18-20.

Recruiting Crisis/Reality Check
Thousands of American families have had a loved one in the regular or reserve US Armed Forces who did one or more tours in Iraq or Afghanistan. National Guard too.
If we can just get the veterans, parents and grandparents of the USA to recommend an enlistment to the young family members in their life, things will be looking up.
Some Americans may be asking:
Did the advantage of US air power allow the undeclared wars in Iraq or Afghanistan to be prevented, won or shut down?
US jet aircraft have been able to strike targets in what wars won by the US?
Currently serving four-star officers and high level DOD civilians have been associated with what wars won by the US?
Has dressing women to look like men had any positive or negative impact on recruiting?
If DOD was an NFL team, sports talk radio would feature comments like:
The Dept. of Defense was nowhere to be found on 911. We haven’t won a war since.
Any college or pro football coach would have been fired a dozen times over for what DOD has done with the US Armed Forces during the fake GWOT era.
There has been a big stir over a blocked senior military promotion system. TV newspeople will avoid interviewing people who offer up a voice of dissent. Stalling the administrative steps to promote top level officers might lead to what? Decades of undeclared/unwon wars? A giant Dept. of Defense that was nowhere to be found on 911?
Why would high level promotions be awarded to people who are part of the system that allowed The Troops to live in the barracks described below?

Happy Halloween from the Kingston days
Towards the end of the debate, I realized that most of the issues discussed are not new to Americans. The difficulties people are having with these routine parts of life are what’s new.
In past decades American families were not haunted by healthcare concerns. People got started with minimum wage jobs and worked their way up. In the 80s, renting an apartment was a routine thing and did not break the bank. Light bulbs, appliances and auto parts were once made in places like Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Buying a tank of gas was not a big deal. People were not haunted by student loan debt.
The Cold War ended in 1991. There was a time in the 1980s when the US Armed Forces (no recruiting crisis) were strong and ready and also on the back burner.
At one time, the National Guard was thought of as one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer, plus a way to support your home state by being ready to get called out for floods, fires, natural disasters, civil unrest, etc. Maybe a way to help the next state over if they needed it. At one time, the National Guard was not doing 12 month tours in Iraq, Afghanistan or Africa.
National Guard
These are the people who need to maintain a place to live and a regular job in their hometown area when they are not doing time in foreign lands helping DOD with undeclared/unwon wars and missions completely unrelated to their home state.
The people of Alaska need services in the Middle East
During the Vietnam War, US troops were sent to Vietnam.
Today, the Ohio National Guard is sent to “support Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve.”
Immigration and the US Border Patrol are not new to Americans and have been in place for decades. Enhanced/REAL ID, and a giant US Dept. of Homeland Security (created after the catastrophic failure of 911) are new, along with no shortage of cartel product anywhere in the US and fentanyl addicts camping on the sidewalk in major cities.
Welcome Home Troops
Guns were common in the 60s and 70s, mass casualty school shootings were not.
Both major parties have taken turns in power over the past 45 years or so. For sure, there is a chunk of public policy that has become worse, not better.
I would have loved to see the moderators ask questions on how both major parties have taken turns in power/had their hands on the wheel as things went downhill after putting a Man on the Moon in 1969.
Both major parties will tell us The Troops are in distant lands fighting for our freedoms. Back home, governments at various levels are now in the habit of setting deadlines for new restrictions, bans and mandates for various formerly routine consumer products.

Political parties and personalities are not as interesting as what stays the same no matter who is elected to office.
Another giant election season for the press to again avoid asking what the major parties believe in or stand for.
Look for news coverage to be more about personalities than what the major parties are all about.
Not missing:
The big election season features much talk of political personalities, labels, group identities, fear & scare tactics, predictions of worst case future scenarios, frequent updates on domestic and foreign chaos, lies about freedom and news reporting accomplished by forwarding press releases.
I don’t have regular TV anymore, so I don’t know much about negative TV ads. A few years ago, here in WA, I saw them so often that I made one of my own. A :07 clip here:
Missing:
News reporting on what the major political parties stand for or believe in. News reporting on what stays the same no matter who is in office.
News reporting Re: public policy that features experts speaking on two or more sides of any issue.
The open comment sections in local newspapers that were routine 20 years ago.

A giant US Dept. of Homeland Security
Newspeople avoid these questions:
Would the DEA be out of work if a $51.6 billion (every 12 months) US Dept. of Homeland Security was able to keep cartel product from showing up in all 50 states?
Have opioid lawsuits played any role in improving the situation?
How do cartels react to opioid lawsuits?
Has local CBP created any shortage of cartel product in the Puget Sound area?
Candidate ____________,
Has a $51.6 billion (every 12 months) US Dept. of Homeland Security created any shortage of opioids/cartel product anywhere in the US?
Super Bowl
Tune in to any Super Bowl in the post 911 era to see the press promote a big US Dept. of Homeland Security show of force to keep the big game safe. TV newspeople skip asking questions and play the role of federal public affairs staff instead:
The folks who can’t keep fentanyl trafficking cartels from moving product into various US communities are keeping the Super Bowl safe. Way To Go Team.
If special games require special security-what keeps regular games safe? Crowd size/capacity is similar at several stadiums.

As time goes on, American freedoms and the consumer choices we have are becoming more restricted by a combination of government and big business policies, not Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden or the next bad guy DOD will be going after in distant lands.
If The Troops defend American rights and freedoms, what becomes of those freedoms when the US leaves Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc., without a victory?

“Our right to vote has always been protected by the brave men and women who serve in our Armed Forces.”
If a right to vote has always been protected by the brave men and women who serve in our Armed Forces, how come women were not allowed full voting rights at the end of WWI?
Why the need for a 1965 Voting Rights Act if overseas military operations somehow secured voting rights?
If a right to vote is protected by the US Armed Forces, what becomes of that right when the US leaves Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc., without a victory?
Men Died For the Right to Vote?
Right To Vote Linked To Military Operations/US Troops in Distant Lands?
A big election season is very much about political personalities and group identities. Watch for political experts to reach out to latino, black, Asian American, and women voters. Surely, members of a specific group would think, act & vote as one?
The big election season is not very much about discussing and asking questions about things that do not change no matter what political party or personality is in power.
Seems Like A Democrat Thing
Several times over the years, I have heard something similar to:
Mental healthcare in the USA was damaged because President Reagan cut off vital funding.
President Reagan left office in 1989. Both major parties have taken turns in power and had the chance to maintain or change whatever good or bad things President Reagan left in place.
To me, this feels like taking your favorite NFL team today and saying the defense is still screwed up because coach so-and-so set it up that way before he left in 1989.

“Another lie being told about Kamala Harris is that her candidacy is the result of democracy in action. She’s the people’s choice! Except almost nobody voted for her as a presidential candidate. She’s been elevated and selected by the DNC and the donor class. She is a packaged product of the so-called elites within the party, the very opposite of a candidate chosen by the people. And yet I’m told this packaged product is going to “save democracy” from Trump, who was actually selected as a candidate in a more democratic process.”
“U.S. troops’ deadliest enemies, I’d argue, are most often the lies told by the U.S. government, abetted and amplified by senior officers in the military. Think here of Iraq and Afghanistan, or go back further to Vietnam.”

Whatever issues there are in WA, 49 other states have experience with what works and what doesn’t. Pick a few jurisdictions that have had success and go with it. The WWII Generation had success. What were they doing? Seattle has had problems for years, what did they learn from it? How much public money was spent to make improvements in Seattle?
What I see now from various city and county governments is about collecting tax money to pay for affordable housing, converted motels and hotels for housing. Housing Housing Housing. A spaced out and incoherent drug addict is going to get along in what version of housing? Who is the landlord?
Not against public assistance here. When the experts have had several years to work a problem with public funds and that problem does not seem to improve, newspeople should be asking tough questions.

Whatever may have gone wrong at the federal level during the current White House administration is fair game for the newspeople who may ask questions.

Democracy, but not Biden, is on the ballot?
The bizarre opening weeks of the Democratic primary season
“The fix is in for Biden in 2024, to state the obvious. Iowa and New Hampshire are both being sidelined because the DNC knows Biden is vulnerable in these states. But South Carolina, the DNC believes, can be controlled, can be counted on for a decent showing for Old Joe. Thus South Carolina was moved up in the 2024 primary calendar precisely to demonstrate allegedly strong support for Joe.”

Rigging the Primaries for Biden/Harris Has a Serious Drawback
Iowa and New Hampshire get sidelined in the cause of propping up Joe Biden
“This past week’s Iowa Caucuses ended with a clear winner, Donald Trump, over the undynamic duo of Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis. Meanwhile, nothing happened on the Democratic side. The same is likely to be true next week, when New Hampshire goes to the polls. The DNC is refusing to recognize the NH primary; Joe Biden isn’t even on the ballot, though there is a campaign to write-in his name.”

Did Biden Drop Out or Was He Dropkicked Out?
“Remember how Democrats kept repeating “democracy is on the ballot” this fall? The hasty coronation of Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate for POTUS, after the rigged primary anointment of Joe Biden as that candidate, is decidedly undemocratic.”
“Say what you will of the Republicans and Trump, but they managed to hold a contested primary where Trump beat a serious challenger, Nikki Haley, followed by a national convention that was “normal” for what passes as our democratic political process.”

How the Libertarian Party Lost Its Way
Here is the Oak Bay Starfish take:
TV newspeople will cover both major parties and whoever those parties nominate as a candidate. The press will be present on the campaign trail for both major parties. Made for TV debates will be hosted by TV newspeople and candidates from both major parties will be invited to these debates.
The press and the Uniparty prefer standard/more of the same politicians. These are the candidates the press is happy to see on the TV debate stage. We are talking Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Mike Pence, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, etc. The Uniparty and the press are not OK with candidates who may question the system or push back at interviewers and newspeople. Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Ron Paul, these are the candidates that will not be approved by the TV. Trump is most hated but he is in the very unusual position of being the protest vote who may also go on to take office. Really hot to handle, so the TV goes into months of coverage to do anything possible to trip him up.
The TV debates will feature questions that tend to be friendly to both major parties. Both major parties and TV networks will set up or change rules for the TV debates. Notice how football rules will not be changed months ahead of the next Super Bowl.
No Libertarian candidate on the TV debate stage
No Libertarian candidate will be seen on the TV debate stage. The debates are meant to be linked to voting, but when do we vote on decades on undeclared/unwon DOD wars? RNC/DNC candidates on the TV debate stage will not interrupt to ask: When do we vote on undeclared wars? The press will not bring it up. No libertarian is there to ask about it. The big party machines and TV news networks have already edged out any candidate who would ask.
Politics is controlled by majority rule.
The majority of people who vote will pick one of two major political parties to support each time a major election takes place. These two political parties will take turns in power.
Both of these major political parties are good with funding:
Decades of undeclared/unwon DOD wars.

Recent court action does not eliminate Trump as a protest vote. For some it may make the protest vote more attractive.
Voting is a top priority in the USA, until voters pick the candidate not approved by the uniparty and the press.

“Gratitude to our fallen heroes,” he said. “Gratitude to the families left behind. And gratitude to the brave souls who continue to uphold the flame of liberty all across our country and around the world.”
Flame of Liberty?
Why do elected officials and high level DOD civilians speak of the US Armed Forces as if they function as some sort of giant civil rights organization?

Biden honors Americans who ‘stood on the front lines of freedom’ in Veterans Day remarks
President Biden,
While the troops were deployed, federal law was signed prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to adults age 18-20.
Can you help us to understand the militarized version of freedom here?

Legal age to buy cigarettes, vapes raised to 21 nationwide
“Signed into law by President Donald Trump Friday as part of the new $1.4 trillion spending bill, a new measure prohibits the sale of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21.”

In 2024, after decades of military operations for your freedoms:
18-20 year old adults may not stop off at the mini-mart and legally purchase a six pack of beer.

I lost interest in politics a while back.
Both major parties have taken turns in power over the past 40 years or so. For sure, there is a chunk of public policy that has become worse, not better. I think I touched bottom with news and politics a while back.
Both major parties have had a hand in:
20 years of big US Dept. of Homeland Security spending. Now, more cartel product in Hometown, USA than ever before?
WA Fentanyl Scam – What Got Better?
Welcome Home Troops
Both major parties have had a hand in:
Decades of undeclared/unwon DOD wars. The US Dept. of Defense was established after WWII, in the late 1940s.
Currently serving four-star officers and high level DOD civilians have been associated with what wars won by the US?
The US Dept. of Defense spent the last 30 years squandering prestige and credibility overseas and at home.
If DOD was an NFL team, sports talk radio would feature comments like:
The Dept. of Defense was nowhere to be found on 911. We haven’t won a war since.
Both major parties have had a hand in:
The big US Armed Forces recruiting crisis.
Decades after the lessons of Vietnam, the Pentagon seems to specialize in undeclared/unwon wars. Understandable why young people & their parents & grandparents would take a dim view on all this.
The DOD brand has been wrecked.
Any college or pro football coach would have been fired a dozen times over for what DOD has done with the US Armed Forces during the fake GWOT era.
Will America support another draft?
Last time there was a draft, children were raised by the WWII generation, in families where Mom and Dad were married to each other.
Both major US political parties may be forced to downsize their ambitions for various overseas military operations. Things are slow over at the recruiting office.
Some may say it is time to bring back a draft.
They tried that during the Vietnam War. They found out they had to stop.
A Draft? – DOD Brand Has Been Wrecked
Breaking Point Will Come At The US Armed Forces Recruiting Office
Prediction:
The breaking point will come at the US Armed Forces recruiting office.
There is no WWII generation to encourage new enlistments like there was back in the Cold War era of the 1980s.
Decades of undeclared/unwon DOD wars is now the norm. Look and see if the new military aid package creates any wave of enthusiasm to sign up.
Freedom?
Both major parties have had a hand in:
Telling us that sending US troops to distant lands is for the purpose of defending American rights and freedoms.
The All Volunteer Force era has been a time to tell the American people that US troops are sent to distant lands to defend American freedoms. This urban legend has run its course. People have seen enough now to know this is no more than a marketing strategy. Uniparty newspeople play along by not asking questions:
The US should maintain strong and ready military forces.
In some cases, the US Armed Forces provide for our security. That’s as good as it gets.
In terms of American rights and freedoms- The Dept. of Defense has no more say than the Dept. of Agriculture.
Honest and meaningful ideas stand up to questioning and discussion. Has any newsperson ever challenged any elected official when they say US troops are sent to distant lands to defend American rights and freedoms?

Trump Years
Trump came on the scene because people grew tired of standard politicians and giant political parties. People also grew tired of the staged/scripted/made for TV debates crafted and agreed upon by the uniparty. People grew tired of being told that undeclared/unwon wars are for your freedoms.
Big Debate
I had also lost interest in these predictable, staged/scripted/made for TV debates crafted and agreed upon by the uniparty.
That was before Trump came on the scene.
Trump makes for good TV when almost anything can happen.
“President Joe Biden and Donald Trump will officially face off in their first debate of 2024 on June 27 following their public discourse Wednesday morning, leading to both candidates agreeing to a CNN invitation.”
MSNBC,
Between now and the first debate, please update us on decades of undeclared/unwon DOD wars and the position both major parties take on this.
Where will things go in the future, after the Trump years?
Both major parties will favor standard/more of the same politicians. People who show up to rock the boat (Ron Paul, Donald Trump, RFK Jr.) will be rejected by TV newspeople and the big political parties. Standard politicians will continue to provide messaging for Memorial Day.
Most And Least Meaningful Federal Holidays
Voting is highly emphasized in American culture. Newspeople asking questions related to public policy takes a lower priority. The uniparty is good with this.

Not asking about the oath of enlistment. Asking about what happens after the oath has been taken.
Love to see newspeople interview elected officials and let us know how sending US Troops to Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, etc., is somehow defending the constitution.
Look for newspeople and school teachers to ask zero questions in these areas.
