Look for news coverage to be more about personalities than what the major parties are all about.

The big election season features much talk of political personalities, labels, group identities, fear & scare tactics, predictions of worst case future scenarios, frequent updates on domestic and foreign chaos, lies about freedom and news reporting accomplished by forwarding press releases.

Freedom propaganda and lies
A society that can’t stop bragging about freedom, thanking the troops for freedoms, fighting wars for freedoms, staging military jet flyovers at sporting events for freedom, etc.
Elected officials and high level DOD civilians will speak of the US Armed Forces as if they function as some sort of giant civil rights organization.

How would American freedoms today be any different if US troops were never sent to Iraq?
Uncle Sam is having a hell of a time finding people to sign up for the US Armed Forces. Pretending that decades of undeclared/unwon wars are linked in any way with American freedoms is the kind of dishonesty that will snuff out the energy American families once had for encouraging young people to enlist.

As time goes on, American freedoms and the consumer choices we have are becoming more restricted by a combination of government and big business policies, not Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden or the next bad guy DOD will be going after in distant lands.

Several times over the years, I have heard something similar to:
Mental healthcare in the USA was damaged because President Reagan cut off vital funding.
President Reagan left office in 1989. Both major parties have taken turns in power and had the chance to maintain or change whatever good or bad things President Reagan left in place.
To me, this feels like taking your favorite NFL team today and saying the defense is still screwed up because coach so-and-so set it up that way before he left in 1989.
