To me, the most interesting people in politics are the people who are willing to question their chosen political party.

Rigging the Primaries for Biden/Harris Has a Serious Drawback

W.J. Astore

Iowa and New Hampshire get sidelined in the cause of propping up Joe Biden

“If the DNC had kept the old schedule of Iowa and NH, and Biden had performed poorly in both states, it would have allowed the DNC more notice and time to pivot, or perhaps to craft a message more appealing to voters. Privileging states that are expected to support Biden, in contrast, may breed overconfidence that his support remains strong and his candidacy remains viable against the clear Republican frontrunner, Trump.”

“If you really want to defeat Trump in November, you need the most rigorous vetting process for the Biden/Harris ticket. Rigging the primaries for Biden by deleting Democratic rivals from the ballot, as the DNC has done in Florida, North Carolina, and elsewhere, while effectively throwing out results in Iowa and NH, may ensure both that Biden/Harris win renomination and lose the general election in November.”

Democracy, but not Biden, is on the ballot?

W.J. Astore

The bizarre opening weeks of the Democratic primary season

“Democracy, President Joe Biden has said, is on the ballot this year. But often his Democratic rivals won’t be on the ballot, nor is Biden himself officially on the ballot in New Hampshire in two weeks. (Indeed, the DNC refuses to sanction, i.e. support, the NH primary.) What gives?”

“Next week (1/15), the Iowa caucus for president is being held for Republicans and Democrats. Apparently, official results for Democrats won’t be available until March. Then there’s the famous New Hampshire primary, always the first in the country and this year on 1/23; Biden’s name isn’t even on the ballot for Democrats there.”

The first Democratic primary that apparently counts for the DNC is in South Carolina on 2/3. Why is that?

You’ll recall that in 2020 Biden lost the Iowa caucuses to Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg. In New Hampshire in 2020, Biden came in a distant fifth. But he was able to win in South Carolina with a big push from Barack Obama and Congressman James Clyburn, a major powerbroker in SC, even as other candidates like Buttigieg were pressured to drop out and throw their support to Joe. (Buttigieg’s reward was a cabinet post as Secretary of Transportation for which he is eminently unqualified.)

The fix is in for Biden in 2024, to state the obvious. Iowa and New Hampshire are both being sidelined because the DNC knows Biden is vulnerable in these states. But South Carolina, the DNC believes, can be controlled, can be counted on for a decent showing for Old Joe. Thus South Carolina was moved up in the 2024 primary calendar precisely to demonstrate allegedly strong support for Joe.”

The New Hampshire primary is a little unusual for Democrats this year

Biden and the Democratic National Committee chose South Carolina to go first in the nominating process in 2024, breaking with tradition. But New Hampshire has a law requiring it to go first, so its primary is going ahead on Jan. 23. As a result of the dispute, the state’s delegates won’t be seated at the Democratic convention next summer and anyone who puts their name on the New Hampshire ballot could face sanctions from the national party.”

Alternative Media and Comedians – Asking the Questions and Highlighting the Issues

The TV network wants to pick the favorites. Will of the voters is OK if they choose what the network script readers are happy with.

Sorry, no time for The View panelists to ask the Vice President about her position on undeclared/unwon wars.

Not picking on The View here, most anyone paid to work on a TV network with avoid any questions Re: A US Dept. of Defense that was nowhere to be found on 911. We haven’t won a war since.

Love to see newspeople ask:

Candidate ____________,

Decades after the lessons of Vietnam, it feels like the people who run the Pentagon specialize in undeclared/unwon wars.

What would be your role in all this?

Seems like a post 911 Washington DC would be one of the very most prepared cities in the world to host gatherings and events of a friendly or unfriendly nature. Sort of like the Super Bowl, but every day, not just one day each year.

Trump came on the scene because people grew tired of standard politicians. People also grew tired of the staged/scripted/made for TV debates crafted and agreed upon by the uniparty. People grew tired of being told that undeclared/unwon wars are for your freedoms.

It’s a busy time of year. Give yourself a break and have a meal without putting a whole lot of time and planning into it.

Ultra Lightweight Produce Bags

Give the planet a break and reach for these super lightweight, environmentally-friendly produce bags. Use caution when loading sweet potatoes, ears of corn, bananas, etc. Using two, three or four of the lightweight bags creates enough strength to recreate the use of the old bags that were not OK for the global environment.

Also, be sure to allow plenty of time and patience to pick away at the proper end of the bag in order to try and get it open. Using several bags for a few sweet potatoes requires the attempt at opening the bag steps to be repeated multiple times for the same size produce purchase.

Took a look on the web to see if others were sharing on this topic. No such luck. Independent thinking and blog posts appear to have been scrubbed away. The web is now about trying to sell you stuff.

If you are in the right grocery store, you may have access to a modern credit union, located immediately adjacent to the retail floor. Alaska USA Federal Credit Union was one we used to enjoy.

Alaska is a positive trademark. It represents an independent spirit, a sense of adventure, a rugged outdoor world, a large fishing industry, the 49th state, a major airline was named after it.

Today, the name has been changed:

The new trademark offers up what sorts of images?

My feeling is that a man on the moon in 1969 was a proud American moment. That was maybe the best of America in my lifetime.

Growing Up In The Cold War Era

Later in the day:

“What I remember most about 9/11 is the way America was unified the day after. During uncontrollable times we controlled our response. Race, Gender and Political Party were equally irrelevant.”

“We focused on loving each other, how did we get so segregated? We never would have made it this far if we embraced division on September the 12th. We are where we are because we got here TOGETHER let’s embrace love yet again.”

“God Bless The USA.”

My response:

Good Stuff

Let’s keep that and add a free and independent press that will ask questions/rock the boat, no matter who is in office.

The mainstream press provides news coverage that favors government agencies, departments and policies.

Messages coming from American mainstream culture encourage us to upsize our place in life.

If you are in high school, you should plan to go to college.

If you have a college degree, you should earn an additional degree.

If you are dating, you should get married. If you are married, you should have kids.

If you are an employee, you should become a supervisor or move into management.

If you are a renter, you should buy a home. If you don’t have a dog, make plans to get one.

If you take on a little debt, maybe you can improve your credit score?

If your family van has no video monitors for the entertainment of backseat passengers, order the one that does.

If you carry smartphone version XYZ2, you should plan now for an upgrade the new smartphone version XL427.

More is better.

The environmental can opener.

The environmental can opener requires very little in the way of raw materials to manufacture.

The environmental can opener is very small and light weight. It takes less big, smoky trucks to transport it from the factory.

The environmental can opener almost never breaks or wears out, so the big, smoky trucks can leave the factory less often.

Very little energy is used to advertise the environmental can opener.

The environmental can opener does not plug into the wall, it runs on people power, so it saves energy.

The environmental can opener does not come in a box, or have an owners manual, so it saves trees.

Since the late 1970s, when I received one of these can openers from my Marine recruiter, I have purchased no other can opener.

Growing up in the 60s and 70s- James Bond delivered one of the foreign accents we heard in media. It was a cool thing.

1986- Crocodile Dundee– another foreign accent- well received- seemed like a novelty.

2015- Every other ad for cleaning products, medicines, vacuum cleaners, cosmetics, auto insurance, etc., is done by someone with a foreign accent. No more novelty.

OK with something more like this:
