Alternative Media and Comedians – Asking the Questions and Highlighting the Issues.

Our Take

Violent protest, threats of violence and property damage are not to be tolerated.

Seems like government should be neutral on questioning/protesting US government or foreign government policies.

To me, it’s sort of like speaking out against US COVID policies.

Peaceful/nonviolent protest that does not involve property damage should be hands off for the govt.- no matter the message.

In recent years, the press tends to support government agencies, departments and policies rather than question them.

GWOT – Dropped Out Of The News

Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said was the subject of a major War on Terror bust earlier this month.

Any questions from newspeople?

He did time in the National Guard and had moved on with that part of his life by age 19. How did he manage to do that?

Where did he go to high school?

Where was he living and working in recent years?

What National Guard unit was he in?

Did he have any previous criminal record?

Did he complete any overseas deployments?

What was his job training?

Zero questions from newspeople?

Seems like someone involved in a major crime like a mass casualty shooting, etc. will have some details of their life reported on by the press.

Here is an example:

Elimination Of Local News Reader Comments

Elimination of reader comments works against the idea of paying for an online subscription.

Years ago, I lived in several different small town areas. Places like Kingston, Port Hadlock and north of Penn Cove.

These areas had small, local newspapers and those papers featured active, online comment sections. Paying for a newspaper subscription was OK with me. There were basic rules for commenting, but it did not seem to matter what name people went by. I never cared.

I used to love the comment sections.

Local papers have stripped away all comments from past articles, and removed the opportunity to post comments to new articles.

Various newspapers in the Puget Sound area have gone with this trend.

Suppressing comments, getting away from asking questions related to public policy and telling us they need more support in the form of grant money, subscription and advertising sales, etc.

Got it.

Love to see newspeople out asking questions.

What we get now is sort of a press release style of news reporting where a statement is prepared by whatever agency was involved in the latest policy update, drug bust/federal grant money award, etc.

Newspeople post this statement as is. A 5th grade book report would require more in the way of asking questions.

JFK speaks about the role of the press in a free society:

The era of newspeople not asking questions brings on private citizens who go out and ask questions.

Instead of waiting for school teachers to teach about individual rights and limited government authority, waiting on the press to ask questions, or courts to handle cases, these guys go out and update us with a quick reality check.

These guys were also never waiting on the overthrow of Saddam Hussein or the take down of any other bad guy in distant lands, as DOD defends the constitution, etc.

Unlike many local newspapers, alternative media is good about maintaining open and active comment sections. Several comments are posted with the video above.

From comments:

“The two party system has been nullified. And no other party is allowed. Neither major party resembles its original platform and both are in agreement on war and money. They’re both married to neocon perpetual war philosophy. That’s what happens when you monopolize authority over all law and all people and concentrate it in a few elite, and then expect that power to be somehow limited. There’s only one party– The War Party.”

Decades after the lessons of Vietnam, the Pentagon seems to specialize in undeclared/unwon wars. Understandable why young people & their parents & grandparents would take a dim view on all this.

Real ID Is Useless, Unconstitutional, and Finally Here

By Patrick G. Eddington

MAY 7, 2025

Newspeople seem to have avoided asking:

If REAL ID is critical to the safety of America, have travelers out at the airport been less safe since 911?

Are passports/enhanced/REAL IDs effective in keeping cartel drugs out of the US?

Some version of REAL ID has been required at border crossings and ports of entry since 2009.

Standard driver’s licenses have not been accepted at border crossings and ports of entry since 2009.

What got better?

At The Airport

At the airport- REAL ID will solve what sorts of problems? What will improve?

Would any newsperson ever ask:

What keeps terrorists of the GWOT from creating a disruption at the back end of the airport security/ID screening line?

Americans were told they faced a life and death situation after 911. If certain actions were not taken, terrorists could come to America to disrupt our way of life and attempt another 911.

If all this was a life and death situation that required sending the troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, wouldn’t it be important to ask a few public policy questions about what was going on?

Good for another four years?

Trump’s Mega-Blink on China Tariffs

by Jacob G. Hornberger

May 12, 2025

“After recently blinking in his tariff war against much of the world by suspending his beloved tariffs on 70 countries for 90 days, President Trump has just engaged in a mega-blink against China, the country that he refused to include in his recent massive tariff suspension. Blinking this time against what U.S. officials say is America’s enemy, adversary, competitor, and rival, Trump has just announced that the massive tariffs that he imposed against China will now also be suspended for 90 days as part of a temporary mutual tariff-reducing agreement between the U.S. and China.”

The Oak Bay Starfish Take

I’d be more interested in paying (again) for a local paper subscription if there was more in the way of newspeople asking questions.

No sense in subscribing to newspapers that do not ask public policy-related questions.

In recent years, the press tends to support government agencies, departments and policies rather than question them.

Zero Questions From Small Or Large Newspapers, Zero Questions From TV Newspeople

Several Examples:

August 11, 2023 Whidbey News-Times

Whidbey sewer plants win state awards

“The Oak Harbor Clean Water Facility was recognized as outstanding by the Department of Ecology.”

The Coupeville treatment plant received the outstanding performance award for the 13th consecutive year, and the Holmes Harbor plant was awarded for the 17th year in a row. The Penn Cove wastewater treatment plant was also a recipient this year.”

Beach adjacent to Award Winning Sewage Treatment Plant:

Coupeville

“Clams, mussels and oysters CLOSED year-round.”

“This beach is within the closure area for a sewage treatment plant outfall and is unsafe for recreational shellfish harvesting.”

Source: WDFW

Would any newsperson ever ask:

When is the last time all of Penn Cove was safe for recreational shellfish harvest?

Any reader comments?

Zero questions from small or large newspapers. Zero questions from TV newspeople.

Another Example:

$6.3 million in federal cash for a used Ocean Shores hotel.

Any questions from newspeople?

December 8, 2022 The Daily World

Dept. of Ag invests $6.3M to purchase Ocean Shores hotel

$6.3 million “to fund the acquisition of an existing hotel. Marathon Enterprises Inc. is located in Ocean Shores, Grays Harbor County, Washington. The project is expected to result in saving eight jobs and creating one full time job.”

Any reader comments?

Zero questions from small or large newspapers. Zero questions from TV newspeople.

The small papers will say they need more support from subscribers and advertising dollars or cash from the federal government to stay alive. All this because COVID or the internet or lack of newspaper sales, or a free and independent press that needs taxpayer support.

People who take no public funds, private donations or advertising dollars are free to ask questions at any time. Why not the press? Call for unpaid volunteers and you’d get better news coverage than what we have now.

Another Example:

In The News:

Foot ferry envisioned from Ocean Shores to Westport

Legislature pondering bill that would grant $50M for fast foot ferries throughout Washington waters

The Daily World – Feb 26, 2025

“A ferry from Ocean Shores to Westport and back was part of the discussion of a bill introduced by state Rep. Greg Nance, D-Bainbridge Island. Nance mentioned Grays Harbor and said the ferry ride between Westport and Ocean Shores could serve tourists and locals alike.”

Any Interview With Representative Nance?

Any telephone interview? Any web based interviews? This is routine stuff in 2025.

Looks like the local press was unable to interview Representative Nance before this story was posted.

Questions that may have come up in the interview are in bold type below:

Representative Nance,

In 2008, the El Matador ferry was shut down:

“…too much sand and silt at the entrance and inside the Ocean Shores Marina, and no governmental entity is prepared to apply for dredging permits.”

Are you aware that the situation has now become worse?

The public parking areas adjacent to Damon Point are now closed. Beach walkers have no access to Damon Point.

City of Ocean Shores:

Damon Point Area Access Closed to the Public – Beginning January 27, 2025
Beginning Monday at 7:00am, public access to Damon Point will be strictly prohibited. We will begin stockpiling cobble in the parking lot to the left of the easement. To ensure everyone’s safety access to the area will be closed. This is a critical operation, and we appreciate your full cooperation.”

This public parking area is adjacent to where the El Matador ferry landed on the Ocean Shores side back in 2008.

Representative Nance,

What port facility on the Ocean Shores side would be suitable for the new ferry landing? When is the last time you toured this area? When is the last time you met with Ocean Shores political leaders?

Representative Nance,

Have you been over to Westport to look at a community that faces the same concerns Re: tsunami zone, global warming, sea level rise, climate crisis, king tides, coastal erosion, El Niño/La Niña, winter storms and did not let any of that get in the way of keeping things maintained on their working waterfront?

Representative Nance,

When and why was a decision made to turn away from maintaining the 1916 jetty adjacent to public parking areas at Damon Point?

Representative Nance,

Were you aware that $6.3 million in federal cash went for a used Ocean Shores hotel in late 2022?

Were Washington State lawmakers consulted prior to this deal going through?

December 8, 2022 The Daily World

Dept. of Ag invests $6.3M to purchase Ocean Shores hotel

Another Example – Port Angeles CBP:

Unlike many cities of its size, Port Angeles maintains a significant Homeland Security/CBP/Border Patrol presence.

Are newspeople forbidden to ask questions related to Port Angeles Homeland Security funding and performance?

Newspeople have a long history of not asking questions in this area.

New Port Angeles USBP Station opened more than a decade ago. Has the new station been able to prevent cartel drugs from entering the Olympic Peninsula?

Newspeople remain silent.

After a Port Angeles CBP buildup that took place more than a decade ago, is there any follow up made by the press to inform the public on whatever results have been achieved?

If you run a government operation-these are the reporters you want to see on interview day:

2024:

With a significant Homeland Security/CBP/Border Patrol presence at Port Angeles:

Clallam County has one of the highest per capita rates of drug overdoses in the state…”

Look for newspeople to ask zero questions in this area:

When is the last time the Port Angeles Border Patrol made an arrest of any kind?

When is the last time the Port Angeles Border Patrol made an arrest linked in any way to the US/Canada border?

Has massing US Border Patrol agents at the southern edge of the Strait of Juan de Fuca played any role in reducing Clallam County drug overdose numbers?

Have opioid lawsuits played any role in improving the situation?

How do cartels react to opioid lawsuits?

Are passports/enhanced/REAL IDs effective in keeping cartel drugs out of the US?

Standard driver’s licenses have not been accepted at the border since 2009.

When is the last time the Port Angeles Border Patrol made any seizure that kept any amount of fentanyl, heroin or any opioid from entering Clallam County?

Were Clallam County drug overdose death numbers higher before the US Dept. of Homeland Security was established (2002) or are the numbers higher with a $51.6 billion (every 12 months) US Dept. of Homeland Security in place? This giant federal agency now has more than two decades of experience and lessons learned in working to prevent cartel product from entering the US. More overdose deaths now, or before DHS?

Urban legend: The US Border Patrol stopped the Millennium Bomber at Port Angeles-

Ahmed Ressam was captured at the traditional port of entry at Port Angeles by Customs Inspectors wearing blue uniforms- not by Border Patrol Agents wearing green uniforms.

Dec 17, 2029 Peninsula Daily News

Terrorist plot stopped in Port Angeles 20 years ago

“Two decades have passed since U.S. Customs inspectors in Port Angeles foiled a terrorist’s plot to kill and injure as many Americans as possible by blowing up a passenger terminal at Los Angeles International Airport.”

“…he debarked from the MV Coho ferry driving a rental car filled with highly-volatile explosives.”

How many US Border Patrol agents were stationed at Port Angeles in 1999?

Pre-911 staffing levels got the job done.

Love to see newspeople out asking questions.

“It might well be the first time since I discovered libertarianism that a libertarian principle has gained such overwhelming favor and support from the American people. For the past few months, the mainstream press has been filled with editorials, commentaries, and op-eds favoring free trade.”

“In fact, it is phenomenal that the only people who are on the fringe on this issue are Trump and his loyal band of Trumpsters, who, like members of a cult, will support anything Trump does and come up with all sorts of arguments, no matter how inane and fallacious, to blindly support his statist policies and positions.”

Trump came on the scene years ago, because people grew tired of standard politicians. The uniparty and their TV news networks prefer standard politicians.

On the GOP side, a standard politician would be Mike Pence, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, etc. No real personality, more of the same, uninteresting and completely acceptable for TV news network coverage.

The DNC hated Trump before, during, after and now again. DNC had maximum time to craft a strategy and their best answer was Biden/Harris.

Whatever Trump is up to now can be seen as a response to Biden/Harris and the standard politicians of any party who came before them.

The Decline and Fall of the Democratic Party

W.J. Astore

Further Thoughts on Tulsi Gabbard’s Confirmation Hearing

JAN 31, 2025

“Because Tulsi believed in an equitable and fair process for the 2016 presidential campaign, when the DNC then was controlled by Hillary Clinton and her acolytes. The primary process was, in a word, rigged, with outsider candidate Bernie Sanders never having a fair chance to win the nomination despite his enormous popularity. So Tulsi resigned her position as vice chair even as she backed Sanders, earning the unending enmity of Hillary Clinton and the entire DNC establishment.”

“Tulsi was a candidate for president in 2020 in the Democratic primaries, where during one debate she demolished then up-and-comer Kamala Harris, another Clinton acolyte. Harris fizzled as Tulsi endured, despite smears by the Clinton wing that she was a Putin puppet. Tulsi never had a chance, of course, as Barack Obama intervened to throw the primary to Joe Biden, already a man in physical and mental decline.”

“As I watched yesterday’s confirmation hearing for Tulsi, I was once again struck by her intelligence, knowledge, and poise. A skilled speaker, she thinks well on her feet. Her answers are direct and clear: no “word salads” like Kamala Harris, no evasiveness, no laughing or giggling when she doesn’t know the answer. If Joe Biden had picked Tulsi as his running mate in 2020, and Tulsi had run against Trump last year, my bet is that America would now have its first woman—and woman of color—as President.”

“Of course, Democrats used to have a truly diverse, highly capable, and charismatic candidate in Tulsi Gabbard. She may yet emerge as a strong candidate for the presidency in 2028—as a Republican.”

“Much like RFK Jr., Tulsi is now hated by the Democratic Party for her nonconformity to corporate interests. Those interests have torn the heart out of the party of JFK, LBJ, and George McGovern. Only a corporate shell (and corporate shills) remains at the national level. And that is truly a shame for democracy in America.”

Why the Mainstream Media Is in Trouble
by Jacob G. Hornberger
January 31, 2025

“The Internet, obviously, has been the mainstream media’s worst enemy. That’s because people were now able to discover websites, podcasts, videos, and other such things that were willing to tell them the truth about their villainy of their own government. The mainstream media has been having trouble ever since.”

Glenn Greenwald:

Glorification of military service / total nonsense:

WA Secretary of State

Our right to vote has always been protected by the brave men and women who serve in our Armed Forces.”

Page 7 of the Washington State Elections Voters Pamphlet for the November 5th, 2019 General Election:

Our right to vote is protected by the members of the U.S. Armed Forces.”

If a right to vote has always been protected by the brave men and women who serve in our Armed Forces, how come women were not allowed full voting rights at the end of WWI?

Why the need for a 1965 Voting Rights Act if overseas military operations somehow secured voting rights?

If a right to vote is protected by the US Armed Forces, what becomes of that right when the US leaves Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc., without a victory?

Look for the mainstream press to ask zero questions in this area.

Mainstream media functions like paid actors reading a script.

Americans do not live in a free and honest society. Today, the mainstream media will function like paid actors reading a script:

Would any newsperson ever ask:

Did the advantage of US air power allow the undeclared wars in Iraq or Afghanistan to be prevented, won or shut down?

US jet aircraft have been able to strike targets in what wars won by the US?

Currently serving four-star officers and high level DOD civilians have been associated with what wars won by the US?

Has dressing women to look like men had any positive or negative impact on recruiting?

Imagine stepping away from a career in government service, trying to grasp a feeling of satisfaction and pride in what you did. After moving on, you are branded as a person who is sort of guilty enough to require top-level forgiveness for whatever your actions may have been.

My memory of General Milley and the press:

Operation Macho Swagger

Has General Milley’s Operation Macho Swagger created any shortage of cartel product anywhere in the US?

Has there been enough time for newspeople to ask questions?

Newspeople remain silent.

April 1, 2020 C-SPAN

WWII costume reminds us of a time before decades of undeclared/unwon wars stacked up.

The Department of Defense track record goes back to 1949.

Armed Forces Recruiting Crisis

The uniparty and the press appear to have been OK with undeclared/unwon wars.

Never Forget-

The US Armed Forces were irrelevant in defending American rights and freedoms, our physical security, & The Constitution on 911.

Ditto for all other federal agencies and departments.

If DOD was an NFL team, sports talk radio would feature comments like: The Dept. of Defense was nowhere to be found on 911. We haven’t won a war since. This reflects on the uniparty. The press has gone easy on asking questions because the press supports the uniparty.

Decades after the lessons of Vietnam, it feels like the people who run the Pentagon specialize in undeclared/unwon wars.

Is it understandable that young people and their parents and grandparents would take a dim view on all this?

Any college or pro football coach would have been fired a dozen times over for what DOD has done with the US Armed Forces during the fake GWOT era.

Fake GWOT?

The US Dept. of Homeland Security was invented after the catastrophic military failure of 911. (Anybody fired over this?) The idea was to keep bad people from coming to the US to do bad things/attempt another 911, etc.

Wouldn’t the giant War on Terror be a cartel drug trafficker’s worst nightmare?

If Americans lived in a free and honest society, newspeople would be asking public policy-related questions all of the time. This is not the case.

Welcome Home Troops

Were Clallam County drug overdose death numbers higher before the US Dept. of Homeland Security was established (2002) or are the numbers higher with a $51.6 billion (every 12 months) US Dept. of Homeland Security in place? This giant federal agency now has more than two decades of experience and lessons learned in working to prevent cartel product from entering the US. More overdose deaths now, or before DHS?

The Origin of The Los Angeles Wildfires

“My group and scientists from the University of Albany are now studying the meteorology of the LA wildfires earlier this month and have significant early results. At the American Meteorological Society meeting last week, I attended many wildfire meteorology sessions and talked to several colleagues who have actively studied such events. The LA fires were a topic of considerable discussion.”

“We have a good idea of what happened: an extreme/unusual Santa Ana event associated with severe downslope winds. In this blog, I will show you some early simulations and explain why this event occurred.”

“I will also describe why climate change did not play a significant role.”

“There are several media outlets and climate activists that are suggesting that LA fires were the result of global warming or significantly enhanced by human-caused warming.”

“I am particularly troubled by the media pushing weather/climate theories that are untrue. A prime example is the unsupported claim that the Lahaina fire was associated with the passage of a hurricane to the south. This was proven to be false.”

Why the LA Wildfires Have Little to With Drought or Climate Change

“Some climate activists and media outlets are claiming the drought or climate change were major contributors to the recent wildfires around Los Angeles (see sample below)”

“These claims can easily be shown to be false.”

“Once the wildfires got to the homes or burning embers reaches the homes, the homes THEMSELVES supplied the fuels.”

“One house ignited the next.”

“This is very similar to the situations of others major urban wildfires, such as the Camp Fire (Paradise, CA), Lahaina (Maui), and the Marshal Fire (Superior, CO). Homes flammability has little to do with weather conditions. But poorly constructed homes (e.g., flammable roofs, no screens to stop embers moving into home spaces) are major problems.”

“There is No Trend of Less Precipitation in Southern California”

“Very strong video and photographic evidence indicated the Los Angeles Eaton fire, which resulted in the most deaths was due to a faulty power line. Clearly, this transmission line was not de-energized even with the forecast of severe Santa Ana winds.”
