Some may say Homeland Security is a scam and that newspeople have avoided asking questions related to Homeland Security funding and performance for decades now.

Below, we’ll offer up several examples of what we’re talking about.

Why It Matters

Americans were told that they faced a life and death situation after 911. If certain actions were not taken, terrorists could come to America to disrupt our way of life and attempt another 911.

If all this was a life and death situation that required sending the troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, wouldn’t it be important to ask a few public policy questions about what was going on?

Newspeople have a long history of not asking questions in this area.

In The News

DEA

The Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area chases after cartel product not stopped at the border by Kristi Noem.

Will Northwest HIDTA be shut down when cartel drugs stop entering the US? Have recent US Dept. of Homeland Security efforts reduced the need for Northwest HIDTA services?

Any questions from newspeople?

Drug Cartels Designated As Terrorist Organizations

Did the advantage of designating terrorist organizations in Iraq and Afghanistan allow those undeclared wars to be prevented, won or shut down?

Drug cartels were designated as terrorist organizations back on Feb 20, 2025.

Both major parties have been OK with wasteful and ineffective Homeland Security spending.

Kristi Noem was supposed to keep cartel product out. She became irrelevant when Operation Macho Swagger went hot to take out boats thought to be operated by drug cartels.

Months ago, Kristi Noem deployed her ass kicking drug war road show.

Mar 20, 2025:

Homeland Security Vision of Success

Promotional events crafted and controlled by public affairs professionals, staged with major drug hauls, patrol boats, helicopters, etc.

The big campaign features top level team leaders thanking each other.

Well done.

Announcing the number of DOD ground units, US Navy and US Coast Guard vessels sent towards the US/Mexico border demonstrates a sense of commitment.

If you are part of a local drug task force, or narcotics enforcement team, you are advertising the latest big drug bust after cartel product is able to move past the jurisdiction of federal agents at borders, border crossings and ports of entry, REAL ID checks and a barrier of DOD ground units, US Navy and US Coast Guard vessels prior to arriving in Hometown, USA.

If you are part of the DEA, you may hope for limited success coming from the Trump/Noem team because what would you do with yourself if cartel drugs could no longer enter the US?

Please let us know when Seattle area drug addicts have any difficulty finding their cartel product of choice.

If you are part of a local health dept. you are handing out Naloxone as always, to deal with the stuff that doesn’t get reported in the big local drug bust.

Real newspeople may ask:

Are Seattle area drug addicts having any problem finding their cartel product of choice due to any federal drug war effort?

Under Kristi Noem

Cartels move product into all 50 states.

DEA High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas:

“…HIDTA-designated counties are located in 50 states…”

Welcome Home Troops. Thanks for doing time/risking your ass in Iraq and Afghanistan, working to keep a post 911 USA safe & secure.

Kristi Noem is sealing off the border. Any day now, cartel drugs will no longer be available anywhere in WA.

People will no longer need cash to support a drug habit. There will be no more need to steal, and we can all go back to how things were in the last century.

Back to a time before the US Dept. of Homeland Security was established in 2002. This giant federal agency now has more than two decades of experience and lessons learned in working to prevent cartel product from entering the US.

More overdose deaths now, or before DHS?

We’re not impressed.

Credibility squandered, enthusiasm dried up.

Don’t lie to people and maybe they would be more patriotic.

Port Angeles Drug War

A significant Homeland Security/CBP/Border Patrol presence at Port Angeles and the expanded Port Angeles USBP HQ have been in place now for more than a decade.

New Port Angeles USBP Station opened more than a decade ago. Has the new station been able to prevent cartel drugs from entering the Olympic Peninsula?

Newspeople remain silent.

Were Clallam County drug overdose death numbers higher before the US Dept. of Homeland Security was established (2002) or are the numbers higher with a $51.6 billion (every 12 months) US Dept. of Homeland Security in place? State Of WA In The News

WA erred in granting hundreds of commercial driver’s licenses to noncitizens

By Jake Goldstein – Street Washington State Standard

Dec 9, 2025

“Washington state mistakenly issued nearly 700 licenses to drive trucks and buses to noncitizens who don’t qualify over the past seven years.”

“By handing out standard CDLs to drivers who were never eligible, Washington sent unsafe foreign drivers onto highways across America and put countless families in danger.”

The post 911 surveillance state (fusion centers, license scanners, Homeland Security grant money, monitoring of e-mails, text messages, & social media sites, no fly/terror watch lists, tracking of cell phones, best advances in REAL ID and AI technologies, etc.) appears to have played no role in preventing crimes committed by the D.C. gunman.

With REAL ID, America Now Has National ID Cards and Internal Passports

J.D. TUCCILLE – Reason magazine May 23, 2025

From the small town grocery store:

Preparing to honor the fallen and later celebrate our nation’s freedoms this weekend.

Went in yesterday to purchase beer. Our local, small town grocery store has a new policy: All must show ID to buy beer. If Mom & Pops go through the line with beer, both must show ID. This happened last time I went shopping there with my wife.

I was born in 1960. Yesterday, I was asked for ID. I had forgotten about the new policy, but quickly remembered.

I mentioned to the cashier in a cheerful way that I have been legal to buy beer for about 45 years now.

Both major parties are OK with federal prohibition of alcohol and tobacco for adults age 18-20.

No such thing the day I graduated from high school.

That was before decades of military operations for your freedoms.

Both major political parties are now OK with treating 18-20 year old adults as second-class citizens.

Good luck with your US Armed Forces recruiting crisis.

May 13, 2025 – The National Desk

US Coast Guard, US Navy, DOD ground units and the jurisdiction of US Dept. of Homeland Security federal agents checking REAL ID (since 2009) at borders, border crossings and ports of entry fail to keep newsworthy amounts of drugs from arriving inside the US at various locations.

Some version of REAL ID has been required at border crossings and ports of entry since 2009.

Welcome Home Troops – Armed Forces Recruiting Crisis

In past decades, people could do time in uniform, then return to the US with a feeling that they were living in the best country on the planet.

Standards have deteriorated. Today, the troops return to an ongoing breakdown of society.

Read Seattle area news from any source to see where things are now.

Read about traffic fatalities, shootings, drugs not kept out by a giant US Dept. of Homeland Security, homeless encampments, arson, shoplifting, ferries that don’t run and failed county jail security screening protocols.

Weak Security Screening – Welcome Home Troops

Zero questions from newspeople:

Fentanyl found in Snohomish County Jail during K9 search

KOMO News Feb 22, 2025

“A routine search by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office at the county jail led to the discovery of fentanyl in the medical housing unit on Tuesday, the agency said.”

Routine search discovers fentanyl that maybe should have been kept out of the US by a $51.6 billion (every 12 months) US Dept. of Homeland Security.

Routine search discovers fentanyl that was able to move past jail security screening protocols and procedures prior to becoming the subject of a Sheriff’s Office commendation of the efforts of the corrections staff at the facility.

Well Done

Real newspeople may ask why K9 Harley and others with similar training didn’t prevent fentanyl from entering the facility in the first place. How often do jail security screening protocols fail to keep fentanyl from entering the facility?

Press Release Style of News Reporting

For the story above, KOMO goes with the press release style of news reporting where a statement is prepared by whatever agency was involved in the latest policy update, drug bust/federal grant money award, etc.

Newspeople post this statement as is. A 5th grade book report would require more in the way of asking questions.

In recent years, the press tends to support government agencies, departments and policies rather than question them.

Newspeople play along by not asking questions. Airport travelers make it on air when they demonstrate a supportive and compliant attitude. They are here to cooperate. They are not here to ask questions.

Dumbed down news coverage:

In a free and honest society newspeople and travelers would ask questions and we’d see those questions make it on air.

Some examples:

Standard driver’s licenses have not been accepted at border crossings and ports of entry since 2009. What got better?

At the airport- REAL ID will solve what sorts of problems?

Out at the airport, real newspeople and travelers may ask:

What keeps the terrorists of the GWOT from creating a disruption at the back end of the airport security screening line?

If REAL ID is critical to the safety of America, have travelers out at the airport been less safe since 911?

Airport Security Screening & ID Checks

Show up early to wait in line and squeeze the toothpaste out of the tube at the airport?

Would any newsperson ever ask:

What keeps terrorists of the GWOT from creating a disruption at the back end of the screening line?

Has anyone ever seen any member of the press ask questions on this?

Have these technologies been used to keep cartel product from showing up all over the US?

Security Theater: Customary Federal Pointlessness

“…the intelligence agencies have proved useless. NSA did not prevent the first attack on the Twin Towers in 1993, nor the successful one.”

“What goes on at airports is not security. It is Security Theater. When the government’s own agents try to smuggle “weapons” aboard airliners to test the system, they succeed ninety-five percent of the time.”

“Further, a terrorist doesn’t need to get aboard an airliner to blow up spectacularly. At many airports, hundreds of people line up at ticket counters during peak hours. A carry-on bag of explosive would easily create enough slaughter to shut down air travel and to make international headlines for weeks.”

Warnings at airports that unattended vehicles will be ticketed, towed, and perhaps destroyed are also Security Theater. By the time the vehicle was noticed, and somebody sent to check it out, an easy five minutes would have passed and the driver would be somewhere else. Boom.”

This giant federal agency now has more than two decades of experience and lessons learned in working to prevent cartel product from entering the US. More overdose deaths now, or before DHS?

Would the DEA be out of work if a $51.6 billion (every 12 months) US Dept. of Homeland Security was able to keep cartel product from showing up in all 50 states?

Look for newspeople to ask zero questions in this area.

Background – Port Angeles CBP

Unlike many cities of its size, Port Angeles maintains a significant Homeland Security/CBP/Border Patrol presence.

Are newspeople forbidden to ask questions related to Port Angeles Homeland Security funding and performance?

Newspeople have a long history of not asking questions in this area.

New Port Angeles USBP Station opened more than a decade ago. Has the new station been able to prevent cartel drugs from entering the Olympic Peninsula?

Newspeople remain silent.

After a Port Angeles CBP buildup that took place more than a decade ago, is there any follow up made by the press to inform the public on whatever results have been achieved?

‘Busiest Thanksgiving ever’: How the TSA plans to handle record air travel

“This will be the busiest Thanksgiving ever in terms of air travel,” TSA Administrator David Pekoske said. “Fortunately, our staffing is also at the highest levels that they have ever been. We are ready.”

Airport security officials are pleading with passengers to arrive early, not to put lithium-ion batteries in checked bags in case they overheat, and to keep guns out of carry-on bags. TSA has discovered more than 6,000 guns at checkpoints this year, and most of them were loaded.”

A Real War On Terror?

A real War On Terror would prompt newspeople to ask:

What keeps the terrorists of the GWOT from creating a disruption at the back end of the screening line?

Guaranteed: No TV newsperson anywhere will ever ask this question. Americans do not live in a free and honest society.

Imagine the TV newsperson, on camera, escorting the TSA official all the way to the back of the “be sure to arrive early line” and asking what keeps the bad guys from creating a disruption at that point.

If You See Something, Say Something®” – Just a slogan?

Americans were told that they faced a life and death situation after 911. If certain actions were not taken, terrorists could come to America to disrupt our way of life and attempt another 911.

If all this was a life and death situation that required sending the troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, wouldn’t it be important to ask a few public policy questions about what was going on?

Boom.”

REAL ID will be required starting in 2025

Residents will be required to have an Enhanced Driver License (EDL) or an Enhanced Identification Card (EID) beginning May 7, 2025, to be in compliance with the REAL ID Act of 2005.”

“The extension on implementation of the REAL ID Act will be coming to an end in May 2025. The extension was granted in 2022 by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“The EDL and EID will be the required form of identification to board domestic flights or enter federal facilities, according to the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL).”

Newspeople have a long tradition of playing along by not asking questions related to Homeland Security funding and performance and the GWOT.

Real newspeople and some Americans may ask:

If REAL ID is critical to the safety of America, have travelers out at the airport been less safe since 911?

The new REAL ID requirement for domestic air travel has been extended now to 2025

Ground Travel between WA and Canada

2009 – We were able to go to Canada for lunch and return with just a standard driver’s license. This practice ended for our GWOT safety.

Standard driver’s licenses have not been accepted at border crossings and ports of entry since 2009.

More than two decades of US Dept. of Homeland Security spending to keep bad people from coming here to try another 911, etc.

Today- Cartels move product into Hometown, USA.

How does Enhanced/Real ID benefit national security while cartel product moves past screening, scanning, pat downs, special IDs, inspection of personal items and then on into the US?

If special ID works to keep bad guys out- how are cartels moving product into US communities in 2024?

Seems like strict post-911 security protocols & the War on Terror would be a drug cartel’s worst nightmare. What does our $51.6 billion (every 12 months) US Dept. of Homeland Security have to say about all this?

Any shortage of opioids in the Puget Sound area?

If sending US troops to Afghanistan and creating a $51.6 billion US Dept. of Homeland Security was meant to keep bad people from coming here to do bad things, why are drug cartels able to move product into all 50 states?
