“In what would be a first in the U.S., possession of small amounts of heroin, cocaine, LSD and other hard drugs could be decriminalized in Oregon under a ballot measure that voters are deciding on in Tuesday’s election.”
A $51.6 billion US Dept. of Homeland Security that fails to keep cartel product from showing up all over the US.
Billions of dollars spent every 12 months to keep bad people from coming here to do bad things.
Newspeople ask zero questions in this area.
The Drug Enforcement Administration
Another couple billion dollars spent every 12 months on an a federal agency that takes credit for big drug busts after cartels move product past federal agents staffing border crossings, ports of entry and the area between ports of entry.
Would the DEA be out of work if General Milley was going to act on his bold pledge to clobber the cartels?
Federal agents swing into action after 2,224 pounds of meth tied to the Sinaloa cartel moves past federal agents manning a $51.6 billion US Dept. of Homeland Security-then on into Riverside County.
A man on the moon in 1969. Church, Boy Scouts, patriotism, pledge of allegiance, the WWII generation in charge. Signing up for the Marines.
Families with married parents and maybe a stay at home Mom. It was common for your friends to have 3 or 4 brothers and sisters.
It started out with a positive sense of American culture.
Much has changed.
Over the past 40 years or so, both major parties have taken turns in power and have squandered credibility that would help in the current situation. A wide variety of political personalities have occupied the White House.
“But as other schools deliberate shutting their doors to slow the spread of the coronavirus, some parents may be left to wonder: If schools close, how will my child eat?”
Several news sources published this quote. View them here.
The idea that sending hometown troops to Africa would be linked in any way with keeping the people of Salisbury Maryland safe and free calls for more discussion.
Mayor Day,
While the troops were deployed, federal law was signed prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to adults age 18-20.
Can you help us to understand the militarized version of freedom here?
In the 60s & 70s I never attended a Veterans Day assembly at school.
There were none.
Probably enough veterans around to remove most of the mystique, or maybe those veterans thought it was all just an average thing and did not want to be seen as a separate part of American society, or get head of the line parking spots over at the grocery store.
Each November, school teachers across America host Veterans Day assemblies– and promote the idea to children that The Troops are in distant lands-fighting for American rights and freedoms-as if the US Armed Forces function as some sort of giant civil rights organization.
In Washington State, these assemblies are mandatory.
Love to see a student ask: If The Troops fight for your right to sit, stand, kneel, etc.-why were black people still riding at the back of the bus after the big WWII victory?
Love to see a student ask: If the wars aren’t won-how can they protect our freedom?
Love to see a student ask: Whatever happened to lessons about Armistice Day?
Not too long ago- it was election season & we heard much talk about clean energy, jobs, the economy, etc.
How is it possible to take elected officials seriously on this?
Instant, non-experimental jobs program/revenue generator requiring zero tax dollars-
Allow U.S. farmers to answer the global demand for Industrial Hemp.
I know hemp will not solve all problems. I know there have been some attempts to move forward with legalization, but mostly hemp seems to be seen as scary and controversial.
How bad do things get before politicians consider allowing people to go with free enterprise?
Career politicians- elected by both major parties- speak of their jobs programs & initiatives to deal with clean energy & the economy as their system collapses. Politicians standing in the way of hemp cultivation have no credibility.
– a control freak society that brags about freedom anytime federal holidays and overseas military operations are in the news.
After playing make-believe during federal holidays, it’s back to reality and living in a world of authoritarian mandates on personal behaviors that harm no one.
Possession laws, paraphernalia laws, open container laws, sales restrictions linked to location, hours, day of the week, holidays, prohibition laws for adults age 18-20, suspicionless roadblocks and checkpoints away from border crossings, etc.
In Washington State- we’re all set to divide adults up into groups of first and second class citizens then see what the majority thinks about them smoking marijuana for fun or marrying their lover.
The White House position on ballot initiatives in Colorado, Oregon, and Washington that would legalize marijuana can be seen here.
The freedom talk from politicians is just for federal holidays and overseas military operations.
It took a constitutional amendment to prohibit the sale of a glass of wine- why no constitutional amendment to authorize a federal war on drugs, drug czar, prohibition of marijuana, etc.
America is a land of freedom that struggles to control peaceful & voluntary adult behavior.
Law enforcement resources should be used to go after individuals who are harming others- not for policing arbitrary pre-crime scenarios.
Americans were never meant to agree on matters of a personal nature. This is why we have so many different churches here.
Pay to camp here overnight- but don’t get caught drinking a beer during your stay-
The people who run both major parties & the conventions that nominate presidential candidates agree on the Drug War.
Ditto for the TV networks that host presidential debates & ask scripted questions of candidates.
Both major parties are OK with decades of ongoing, undeclared wars overseas.
Talks about legalizing marijuana while including restrictions that leave prohibition and the drug war in place for adults age 18-20, those who want to grow a plant at home, possess more than an ounce, or possess marijuana from non-state sanctioned outlets.
Talks about placing high taxes on legal marijuana.
Dealers, traffickers and cartels are good with this idea.
My sense of identity is not very much linked to being a veteran- or a member of any group.
The people who run both major parties & the conventions that nominate presidential candidates agree on the Drug War.
Ditto for the TV networks that host presidential debates & ask scripted questions of candidates.
Both major parties are OK with decades of ongoing, undeclared wars overseas.
Most of the public policy issues I care about will not change no matter which major party is in power.
War on Drugs, Fake War on Terror, ongoing, undeclared wars in distant lands, a costly and ineffective Homeland Security Police State, federal alcohol prohibition for adults age 18-20, violent SWAT raids on the homes of peaceful people who may casually use marijuana, etc.
Democrats are A-OK with the violent SWAT raids too- they just talk less about personal responsibility, individual liberty, constitutional principles, smaller, limited government, free enterprise, private property rights, etc.
He got paid to say this-
Law enforcement resources should be used to go after individuals who are harming others- not for policing arbitrary pre-crime scenarios.
The issues-
War on Terror/ongoing, undeclared wars overseas, War on Drugs, a Homeland Security Dept. that can’t keep heroin & cocaine out of the US, suicides surging among US troops, prohibition for adults age 18 to 20, lies about jobs, clean energy, hemp, etc.-
It will all continue no mater which major party gathers the most votes.
Two Star General required to supervise 15 people in Thailand? (04:27)
Instant, non-experimental jobs program/revenue generator requiring zero tax dollars-
Allow Washington farmers to answer the global demand for Industrial Hemp.
Meanwhile- good citizens pay their taxes, (just like my parents did in the 60s and 70s- when State Parks seemed to be doing just fine) purchase annual parking passes for State Parks, (2 currently valid annual passes in my household- one for each vehicle) and watch parks crumble anyway.
Perhaps four handguns could have saved thousands on 911?
American culture is OK with lies told about US foreign policy and where military service fits into our way of life.
Somewhere after 911- many patriotic Americans seem to have embraced the idea that The Troops are fighting to protect our rights and freedoms– as if the US Armed Forces function as some sort of giant civil rights organization.
When the US Armed Forces are sent to Lebanon, Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, Vietnam, etc.- how is that defending the US Constitution– or our rights and freedoms, or our physical security?
When we return from an undeclared war or military conflict without a victory- what becomes of American rights and freedoms?
One person wrote: “…spend this Memorial Day honoring those who have defended your right to have an opinion on this matter.”
As if we are wards of the state or mindless drones– somehow dependent on people in military uniforms to enable us to think or to have an opinion.
If the troops are fighting for American rights and freedoms- why were black people still riding at the back of the bus after the big WWII victory?
Freedom isn’t free?
If a house is prevented from burning, is it because firefighters protect our rights and freedoms?
Think of your local fire dept.- it serves a clear-cut purpose, no need for people to repeat phrases or slogans in order to justify its existence.
We don’t claim that firefighters protect our rights and freedoms- as if they are part of some kind of civil rights organization.
US foreign policy goals and objectives are mapped out at the very highest levels of government.
Ask yourself- is there someone at the table- in those high level planning sessions- who makes sure that military operations overseas include a mission to protect American rights and freedoms?
Does someone make sure the mission is to defend the constitution?
Is there anyone who verifies that the mission is to protect our physical security?
How does the executive branch of government defend the constitution via US foreign policy?
Many veterans refer to their oath of enlistment Re: defending the constitution- when & how do The Troops act on behalf of the executive branch of government to defend the constitution?
If the US Armed Forces are somehow connected to defending the constitution- how did public policy serve up due-process-free assassinations?
Never Forget-
The US Armed Forces were irrelevant in defending American rights and freedoms, our physical security, & The Constitution on 911.
Ditto for all other federal agencies and departments.
Post 911 efforts to keep terrorists from visiting the homeland- still unable to keep illegal drugs out.
