We have been adopting cats for years now and some may have come from a difficult background. Smudge does not like to be picked up. Our vet makes home visits, but is based outside the area where we live. Smudge needs to be weighed before ordering meds online.

It could be a cat rodeo if we try to pick her up. She likes the shallow cardboard box, so it is staged atop the scale.

Now realizing there are some flat rocks on a hard surface off to one side:

Back at rest. It turns out that the scale is in sleep mode until a human steps on it. Tricky to get the timing right.
