Oak Bay is a body of water near where I lived in Jefferson County, WA. It’s a great spot for clams, beach walks and low tide days. Port Hadlock is nearby.
What is here is for those ready to take a break from the social media/emoji version of the internet. No need to use your giant web company account to create profile/register/sign in/create user name/password, view adds, send money, etc.
I live in the US, but I don’t feel very connected with modern American culture. Viewing social media, ads on TV/ads force-fed with videos on the web confirms this.
Group identities, brand names, labels and personalities are things I don’t feel connected with. To me, it’s more about what you believe in.
I am attracted to whatever seems most honest.
It feels like a society where honest and meaningful ideas stand up to questioning and discussion, but the questioning and discussion rarely takes place.
People who take no public funds, private donations or advertising dollars are free to ask questions at any time. Why not the press? Call for unpaid volunteers and you’d get better news coverage than what we have now.
USA- Home of The Fantasy Newsperson
Both major parties have taken turns in power over the past 40 years or so. For sure, there is a chunk of public policy that has become worse, not better. I think I touched bottom with news and politics a while back.
Voting is highly emphasized in American culture. Newspeople asking questions related to public policy takes a lower priority.
Years ago, I began to think of the mainstream media as Information Suppression Specialists because newspeople had stopped asking questions related to public policy.
The era of newspeople not asking questions brings on private citizens who go out and ask questions.
Been blogging about it for a while now:
“declining trust in news media”
Today’s American culture is truly weak in terms of newspeople asking questions.
My simple request for the world: Just Be Honest
Always have enjoyed a bit of local photography.
At the lower left are my blog topics/categories. Some are just photos. Some have to do with news/politics and American culture.
