Recently, I have been seeing a few Promoted Tweets relating to the B-52 Bomber:

There is only one right choice to power the B-52…”

A mixed bag of comments may follow these posts:

There are certainly some odd responses here. The more efficient our defense capabilities are, the greater the deterrent value and savings to the taxpayer.”

“Tell me, in what conflict in the last 59 years has your technology been used to actually protect citizens of our country? Because from where I sit it looks like you’re nothing but merchants of death whose profits depend on how much innocent blood is spilled in foreign lands.”

Reply: “That you’re ignorant of history and sit in your Mom’s basement doesn’t change the fact that the B-52 has been used throughout its lifespan to defend US citizens.”

I make no attempt to mute these tweets. I see them as an opportunity to think about the message.

The B-52 has been in active service with the USAF since 1955.”
