Political parties and personalities are not as interesting as what stays the same no matter who is elected to office.
Our questions appear in bold type:
We are frequently told that The Troops are in distant lands fighting to protect American rights and freedoms:
“…the men and women of the armed forces guarantee our freedom…”
“For now, the skies above the Olympic Peninsula belong to the Navy’s mission of defending freedom. What that sounds like is up for debate.”
Congressman Derek Kilmer:
Wars are for freedom and democracy.
If wars are fought for democracy-how come women were not allowed full voting rights at the end of WWI?
Why the need for a 1965 Voting Rights Act if overseas military operations somehow secured voting rights?
If The Troops defend American rights and freedoms, what becomes of those freedoms when the US leaves Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, etc., without a victory?
How Do The Troops Defend The Constitution?
Not asking about the oath of enlistment. Asking about what happens after the oath has been taken.
Is the freedom talk just for federal holidays and overseas military operations?

Candidates,
What effort have you made to end federal prohibition of marijuana?
Candidates,
American freedoms may come & go.
Some examples:
Legal marijuana, concealed carry of handguns, semi automatic rifle sales, federal minimum drinking age, sports betting, voting rights, bump stock ban, interracial marriage, gay marriage, tobacco sales, open container laws, etc.
Are these freedoms linked in any way with The Joint Chiefs of Staff, The Troops, The Dept. of Defense or the outcome of military operations overseas?
Candidates,
The US should maintain strong and ready military forces.
In some cases, the US Armed Forces provide for our physical security. That’s as good as it gets.
In terms of American rights and freedoms-The Dept. of Defense has no more say than the Dept. of Agriculture.
Do you find any fault in these statements?
Candidates,
Every 12 months, the US Department of Homeland Security gets another $40 billion in taxpayer funds.

How does it make sense to have The Troops in Iraq & Afghanistan-working to keep bad people from coming here to do bad things, while cartels continue to move product into US communities?

Welcome Home Troops
Thanks for risking your ass in Iraq & Afghanistan-working to keep bad people from coming here to do bad things.

Even in an otherwise-inspiring article about Megan Rapinoe and her world-beating soccer skills offset against her Kaepernick-supporting protests, there’s this: “[her father Jim] has a cousin… who served in Vietnam and remains a huge supporter of Megan. Her right to protest, Jim says, is ‘what he fought for.’ ”
And we all read this and go hell yeah, Merica, freedom. Rapinoe’s got the right to protest because people like that dude risked their asses and watched their buddies die in Vietnam.
Nobody has the stones here to say that makes no damn sense… to ask just how the hell a loyal American’s choice to do what he was ordered to do, and join a fight on the other side of the world that eventually claimed two million lives (there’s a number you never hear, right?) and ended in American defeat, has anything to do with any freedoms we have here at home.
Thanks for your ongoing questions. Like you I wish the media would quit drinking the KoolAid and start asking the tough questions.
Merry Christmas – Bill
Thanks for this Bill.

High School Students’ Graduation Speeches Keep Getting Censored. But They’re Seen by Millions Anyway
“In 1965, a young Iowa middle schooler named Mary Beth Tinker decided to wear a black armband to school to protest the war in Vietnam. She was suspended for doing so, eventually leading to 1969 Supreme Court case Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District. In a 7-2 decision, the court found that students at public schools maintain their First Amendment right to free speech.”

One of the nation’s largest, oldest and most respected veterans organizations tells us: Veterans, not politicians, ‘give us the right to vote,’ observers at Amherst Veterans Day ceremonies told:

Veterans give rights?
It turns out The Troops were in no hurry to enable all adults to act on their right to vote.
US Military operations conducted in the 1940s, 50s & 60s didn’t get the job done.
It wasn’t until July of 1971 that 18 year old adults could take delivery on one of the freedoms we hear so much about.
