Much talk about a chance to vote for marijuana legalization in November.
Legalization?
Unfortunately, I-502 does nothing to end guilty until proven innocent police raids on peaceful people.
Medical marijuana has been here since 1998.
In a free society- where marijuana is legal- the following event would never happen-
“Port Townsend Police raided a house Wednesday morning, and learned by that afternoon the resident apparently had a license to grow medical marijuana.
About 8 a.m. April 11 police raided a home on the 300 block of Hendricks Street after the receiving a tip from passersby that a strong odor was emanating from the residence.”
I-502 does nothing to end guilty until proven innocent police raids on the homes of peaceful people.
Hey ACLU of Washington- how can the I-502 drug dog/SWAT team tell if there is more than 1 ounce or a single plant growing behind a peaceful homeowner’s door?
Law enforcement resources should be used to go after individuals who are harming others- not for policing arbitrary pre-crime scenarios.

Absolutely right on all counts. All I-502 does is force you to buy cannabis from a single, and much greedier, drug dealer….the state. How is $600-$700 an ounce cannabis, that can only be purchased from once source, anything but a government monopoly? How can any call this “legalization” and keep a straight face?
Remember when gambling was an addictive, evil, and illegal vice? Then they found out how much they could make off of lotteries and the evil simply disappeared. Now they spend millions on advertising and glamorizing this former “addiction”. Are they worried about “the children” being exposed to this “glamorization of gambling”? Not as long as the money keeps rolling in. (By the way….wasn’t all this gambling money supposed to be spent on the schools?)
But the “evil” and “illegal” haven’t really gone away. If you are gambling at that friendly little poker game at your home with your friends on Saturday night, you are all still evil and you can be arrested an prosecuted. If the state could figure out a way to get a piece of the action, however, this too would quickly become legal. Does this sound a little like the old time Mafia?
I guess the message is that gambling, like cannabis, is only addictive, evil, dangerous, and, of course illegal, if the state is not making a big profit off of it.
Can we just throw all of these bast***s out of office….all at once….and start over?
Excellent Steve.
I’ll second that motion, I to would love to start over with ALL new government officials both parties. clean the slate and start fresh. Lets get that on the ballot.
75%-80% of other country’s pelope say that cannabis should be legal and regulated like Alcohol and tobacco and government’s still aren’t listening, so good luck even when America gets to the 70% markAlso for the 5th straight week the Legalize and Regulate Marijuana in a Manner Similar to Alcohol Petition on We the People is the most popular petition (72,984 signatures)Keep up the good fight.
No state will be allowed to regulate recreational marijuana period end of story.
America- a control freak society that brags about freedom anytime federal holidays and overseas military operations are in the news.
USMC ’79-’99
This upcoming session we will be trying to pass the “Medical Cannabis Patient Protection Act”. If passed, patients will finally, after 15 years of abuse, have protection from arrest and prosecution if we’re following the law….not just an affirmative defense that’s proven to be just an excuse for “smash and grab” tactics by law enforcement.
It won’t stop all the problems, but it’s a HUGE step forward for patients in Washington. We will also be working on a separate bill that will stop state agencies, especially law enforcement, from entering into grant agreements with the Federal government that require them to enforce Federal law over state law. These HIDTA grants MUST stop before patients have protection from the drug task forces that are violating state law in favor of Federal law. That needs to be illegal. They amount to nothing short of a Federal bribe.
….and vote NO on I-502!!!
