Much talk about a chance to vote for marijuana legalization in November.
Legalization?
Unfortunately, I-502 does nothing to end guilty until proven innocent police raids on peaceful people.
Medical marijuana has been here since 1998.
In a free society- where marijuana is legal- the following event would never happen-
“Port Townsend Police raided a house Wednesday morning, and learned by that afternoon the resident apparently had a license to grow medical marijuana.
About 8 a.m. April 11 police raided a home on the 300 block of Hendricks Street after the receiving a tip from passersby that a strong odor was emanating from the residence.”
I-502 does nothing to end guilty until proven innocent police raids on the homes of peaceful people.
Hey ACLU of Washington- how can the I-502 drug dog/SWAT team tell if there is more than 1 ounce or a single plant growing behind a peaceful homeowner’s door?
Law enforcement resources should be used to go after individuals who are harming others- not for policing arbitrary pre-crime scenarios.

Absolutely right on all counts. All I-502 does is force you to buy cannabis from a single, and much greedier, drug dealer….the state. How is $600-$700 an ounce cannabis, that can only be purchased from once source, anything but a government monopoly? How can any call this “legalization” and keep a straight face?
Remember when gambling was an addictive, evil, and illegal vice? Then they found out how much they could make off of lotteries and the evil simply disappeared. Now they spend millions on advertising and glamorizing this former “addiction”. Are they worried about “the children” being exposed to this “glamorization of gambling”? Not as long as the money keeps rolling in. (By the way….wasn’t all this gambling money supposed to be spent on the schools?)
But the “evil” and “illegal” haven’t really gone away. If you are gambling at that friendly little poker game at your home with your friends on Saturday night, you are all still evil and you can be arrested an prosecuted. If the state could figure out a way to get a piece of the action, however, this too would quickly become legal. Does this sound a little like the old time Mafia?
I guess the message is that gambling, like cannabis, is only addictive, evil, dangerous, and, of course illegal, if the state is not making a big profit off of it.
Can we just throw all of these bast***s out of office….all at once….and start over?
Excellent Steve.
I’ll second that motion, I to would love to start over with ALL new government officials both parties. clean the slate and start fresh. Lets get that on the ballot.
75%-80% of other country’s pelope say that cannabis should be legal and regulated like Alcohol and tobacco and government’s still aren’t listening, so good luck even when America gets to the 70% markAlso for the 5th straight week the Legalize and Regulate Marijuana in a Manner Similar to Alcohol Petition on We the People is the most popular petition (72,984 signatures)Keep up the good fight.
Penny is right…well mostly right. We all know the definition of “insanity”, right? We keep voting for these same idiots! When we doing nothing to change that, it’s OUR fault. Washington is rapidly turning into a police state. We’ve had to fight the use of surveillance drones this year. We now have mandatory alcohol interlock devices for non-alcohol related driving charges! Now these same crooks are going to propose “sobriety checkpoints”…the same idea that was thrown out already by the state Supreme Court! They’ll propose a Constitutional amendment to get around that this year.
So we have to make a change. The Libertarian Party has not been all that active in Washington over the last several years. They now have new leadership and they’re ready to be a force in Washington politics.
We cannot keep electing the same Democrat and Republican party hacks. THAT is wasting our votes! In this coming election year the medical cannabis patient community will be actively supporting Libertarian candidates for office. The strategy is not to become the majority party, but rather to become the swing vote. The swing vote controls the outcome of legislation in tight votes.
If we can elect two Libertarians to the Senate and six to the House, we now have the power to block bad legislation. We also have the power to be heard during the election debates. We have the power to force these crooked politicians into defending their actions.
People are ready for some serious changes…voters from both sides are upset with our state government. A Libertarian candidate, Eli Olson, just won 30% of the vote in his attempt to topple the incumbent head of the Marysville City Council. He did this with less than $1,000 in campaign funds! With proper funding he could of easily beaten his opponent. This tells us a lot about the changing attitudes of the voters.
There’s a Libertarian running as a Republican in the 35th district Senate race against Tim Sheldon. His name is Travis Couture…and he’s got the support of Republicans, Democrats and the Libertarian Party. He’s going to beat long-time incumbent, and perpetual sleaze, Tim Sheldon. People have had it with these slime-balls.
We can DO THIS….we can start cleaning up politics in Washington State. It will take some effort, but we MUST do this and 2014 is the year we start. We will be pro-active. We will go after the biggest slime-balls, like Rep. Roger Goodman and Rep. Chris Hurst….both have to go in 2014. We’ll run independent commercials against them, regardless of who’s running against them. Hopefully we’ll find great Libertarians to run in those districts.
We HAVE to do this. We are losing in the fight to keep our basic Constitutional rights here in Washington. We can’t fix it without direct action. Sitting on our butts hoping things will change for the better is exactly how we got into this mess in the first place.
The medical cannabis patients in Washington are under full attack right now. We are in the fight of our live to keep the legislature from ending medical cannabis in this state….in favor of a Liquor Control Board run recreational pot model….that won’t work. But the real problem stems from a corrupt political system. We can’t cure the problems facing patients unless we can stamp out the corruption that’s causing the problem in the first place.
So we’re going on the attack. We will put 4,000 patients and supporters on the Capitol campus in January…and we’ll be having a chat with our legislators. We’ll be targeting corrupt politicians…and that has already started. We have a “target rich environment”. If you have corrupt politicians in your area, drop me a line. Let’s work to get rid of them!
Last week we filed a recall petition against Governor Jay Inslee. It was filed by the State Attorney General in Thurston County Superior Court on November 1st. You haven’t seen it in the press because they’re part of the corrupt system too. But they can’t hide the news forever. Aren’t you glad we have the internet? 🙂

No state will be allowed to regulate recreational marijuana period end of story.
America- a control freak society that brags about freedom anytime federal holidays and overseas military operations are in the news.
USMC ’79-’99
This upcoming session we will be trying to pass the “Medical Cannabis Patient Protection Act”. If passed, patients will finally, after 15 years of abuse, have protection from arrest and prosecution if we’re following the law….not just an affirmative defense that’s proven to be just an excuse for “smash and grab” tactics by law enforcement.
It won’t stop all the problems, but it’s a HUGE step forward for patients in Washington. We will also be working on a separate bill that will stop state agencies, especially law enforcement, from entering into grant agreements with the Federal government that require them to enforce Federal law over state law. These HIDTA grants MUST stop before patients have protection from the drug task forces that are violating state law in favor of Federal law. That needs to be illegal. They amount to nothing short of a Federal bribe.
….and vote NO on I-502!!!

Last night, around midnight, our cowardly legislators, led by the Democrats, voted to effectively end medical cannabis in the State of Washington. The bill will now move on to the Senate. If it passed the Senate, Washington will be the first state to end medical marijuana. Who would have thought that it would be the Republicans that would have stood up for the rights of patients in Washington?
Our Democratic legislature is absolutely disgraceful. How would you feel if they voted to make you a criminal and took away the medicine you used to treat your cancer? Apparently they don’t believe that we’re voters.
