The post 911 surveillance state (fusion centers, license scanners, Homeland Security grant money, monitoring of e-mails, text messages, & social media sites, no fly/terror watch lists, tracking of cell phones, best advances in REAL ID and AI technologies, etc.) and National Guard foot patrols appear to have played no role in preventing the crimes described above.

“The administration has requested that an additional 1,500 Guard troops be deployed in D.C., ahead of the celebration of the country’s 250th birthday. That will bring the total number to 5,000 this summer.”
