Welcome To The Coast – Shilo Inn
Weak Link
It looks like several hotel booking sites promote local properties as if the facilities are still fully functioning.
Here is an example that promotes the now closed Shilo Inn:
Shilo Inn Suites Hotel Ocean Front Resort
An Unforgettable West Coast Retreat
“The perfect destination on the Washington coast is waiting for you at Shilo Inn Suites Hotel Ocean Front Resort. This incredible retreat features 113 deluxe suites, each with a private balcony featuring ocean or sand dune views and plenty of space for your family and even your dog! Indulge in excellent onsite amenities including an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, airport shuttle, hot tub and more. Kids under 18 stay free with an adult. And if that isn’t enough, right across from the hotel lobby, you’ll find The Shilo Restaurant and a full-service bar. This is a great place to have a family dinner or a romantic celebration. Don’t wait any longer and plan your next west coast vacation today!”
This site tells us this property includes:
A “Bar” and “Gourmet Dining.”
Local people and visitors know that the restaurant and lounge have not been open for an extended period of time.
A photo I took back in May shows the good as new sign advertising a restaurant and lounge that are not open:
From our May 5th blog:
“It’s a shame that people look forward to a visit to the coast and may be disappointed with the reality of their stay compared to what they saw on a web page prepared by marketing/advertising and web sales staff.”
Not sure who can be held accountable when booking sites on the web provide inaccurate descriptions of local properties.
The sites that do only reviews and no bookings are preferable.
Local Oddity
In the news:
$6.3 million in federal cash for a used Ocean Shores hotel.
