by Ida Domingo WJLA News May 9th 2025
“A McDonald’s in Virginia has imposed new restrictions following a series of alleged altercations involving students. An Alexandria location in Fairfax County now only allows customers over the age of 21 to dine inside, according to a sign posted outside the restaurant.”
Welcome Home Troops – Armed Forces Recruiting Crisis
In past decades, people could do time in uniform, then return to the US with a feeling that they were living in the best country on the planet.
Standards have deteriorated. Today, the troops return to an ongoing breakdown of society.
We Object
Here at Oak Bay Starfish, we object to treating 18-20 year old adults as second-class citizens.
Guilty until proven innocent.
Troublemakers at McDonald’s should be treated as individuals and ejected from the property no matter what their DOB is.
Freedom?
Both major parties are OK with federal prohibition of alcohol and tobacco for adults age 18-20.
No such thing the day I graduated from high school.
That was before decades of military operations for your freedoms.
Both major political parties are now OK with treating 18-20 year old adults as second-class citizens.
Doesn’t seem to fit with a society that can’t stop bragging about freedom, thanking the troops for freedoms, fighting wars for freedoms, staging military jet flyovers at sporting events for freedom, etc.
A society where elected officials and high level DOD civilians speak of the US Armed Forces as if they function as some sort of giant civil rights organization.
The idea that the US Armed Forces are sent to distant lands to defend American rights and freedoms is repeated many times over.
The press plays along by not asking questions.

Post-Vietnam guilt
The guilt doesn’t seem to work towards staying out of undeclared/unwon wars or managing federal contracts related to TRICARE.
A giant flag ritual at the next ball game will make it all good.
