Pentagon official walks back Trump claim that top military officer is in charge of protest response

“In a contentious call with the nation’s governors Monday, Trump described Joint Chiefs Chairman U.S. Army Gen. Mark Milley as “a warrior” with “a lot of victories and no losses,” according to audio obtained by NBC.”

General Milley Checks On His Troops…On The Streets Of D.C.

“He finished the evening by addressing the nation, announcing he would be deploying federal troops “to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults and the wanton destruction of property,” he said. “We will end it now.” He said the military would exert “total domination” over the situation. Again, flash bangs could be heard and smell of tear gas in the air as protesters were dispersed just before the D.C. curfew.”

Federal troops “to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults and the wanton destruction of property,” he said. “We will end it now.”

Love to see newspeople ask:

General Milley,

Why does DOD seem to struggle with similar missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, etc.

Did General Milley show a lack of confidence in CBP’s ability to keep cartel product out of US communities when he made this bold pledge two months back?

Will there be less need for CBP, a DEA, a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program, or an Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team if General Milley’s plan takes hold?

Is this the sort of Macho Swagger required to keep cartels from moving product into US communities?
