Recovery, rehab, treatment, & addiction are important parts of this story.

What part of the story is missing?

Has anyone ever seen the press question the US Dept. of Homeland Security/CBP on their role in keeping heroin away from the Puget Sound area?

Massing US Border Patrol agents at the southern edge of the Strait of Juan de Fuca fails to keep heroin out of Port Angeles.

Love to see newspeople schedule interviews and go ask some questions.

In the news- Heroin overdose update:

March, 2017-

Port Angeles police report 18th naloxone save

“Last year, U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer called on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to expand grants and programs that make naloxone more available in rural areas such as the North Olympic Peninsula.”

Feb, 2016-

U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer calls for greater rural access to opioid overdose antidote

“…Clallam County’s opioid overdose death rate is nearly twice the state average…”

“While opioid use has no boundaries, limited public transportation, a lack of treatment facilities and long distances between health care providers can make it difficult for those who live in rural communities to access necessary drug treatment,” Kilmer wrote in his letter.”

Interesting that limited public transportation does not seem to slow down the folks who move heroin past a $41.2 billion US Dept. of Homeland Security and into local communities.

Congressman Kilmer,

Could a larger US Border Patrol force keep heroin out of Port Angeles?

More manpower, gear, enhanced facilities, a bigger budget?

No limited public transportation here:

What role do 1,200-horsepower Border Patrol Interceptor boats play in keeping heroin away from Port Angeles?

“… their main interaction with the boating public: Boarding boats and checking for ID, getting a “vibe,” as Jeff P. called it, for what’s up.”

If you run a government operation- these are the reporters you want to see on interview day:

US Border Patrol, Port Angeles, WA-

A new, $11.9 million, 50 agent facility, secret arrest statistics, denied FOIA requests, heroin in the community & a Border Patrol whistleblower investigation Re: fraudulent overtime that resulted in further suppression of information- keep the focus on asking questions in these areas.

Two total cross-border arrests.

No cross-border USBP arrest has happened here in more than 6 years:

No arrests linked to the US/Canada border since May 31st, 2010.
