dsc_0261-copy Ever notice- in some discussions- people who disagree start speaking in group identities and accuse others of being in opposing political parties.

My concerns are frequently related to the federal government and things that stay the same.

Political parties & personalities take turns in power.

What doesn’t change?

Failed wars that never end, the drug war racket, & a secretive, wasteful and ineffective Dept. of Homeland Security.

The press plays along by not asking questions.

Failed wars that never end:

The idea of phasing out undeclared/unwon wars didn’t seem to show up anywhere in the recent primary & general election seasons.

If there was a real reason to send The Troops to war- would they need to tell us the wars are for our freedoms?

Does all this fighting for freedom mean it would be OK to grow a marijuana plant in the back yard?

Can I take my 20 year old girlfriend (a responsible adult) down to the bar to order up a few beers for freedom?

Should we check with the Joint Chiefs of Staff first?

The drug war racket:

In the news: 44 pounds of meth seized in South Sound bust

Wonder what was happening at border crossing inspections during the almost 3 years these folks were under investigation. Do the good guys who made the local bust notify the good guys at the border about the weak links in their process?

Imagine that LE authorities observe a shoplifter or bank robber in action. Instead of going in to make an arrest they back off and conduct an investigation that goes on for almost 3 years. What if they applied the same tactic Re: crimes involving arson, terrorism, child abuse, DUI, etc.

This time next year- will there be any shortage of meth from Mexico? Has any city, county or state jurisdiction been able to cleanup their drug problem using these methods?

Local law enforcement agencies may benefit when the US Dept. of Homeland Security fails to keep heroin out of the US:

Heroin busts could finance police construction in Snohomish

Macho Swagger update:

LE agencies share information, tools & techniques.

The good guys have the upper hand and plenty of cocky confidence in these made for TV scenarios.

In the real world of crime fighting- Houston Space Center mission control-style HQs fail to keep cartels from moving product into US communities.

Newspeople remain silent.

A secretive, wasteful and ineffective Dept. of Homeland Security:

The US spends about $41.2 billion each year on the US Dept. of Homeland Security.

If the State Patrol was awarded many additional millions of dollars each year to go after drunk drivers- & the problem got worse- would newspeople ask questions?

Would any investigation take place?

Recovery, rehab, treatment, & addiction are important parts of this story.

What part of the story is missing?

Has anyone ever seen the press question the US Dept. of Homeland Security/CBP on their role in keeping heroin away from the Puget Sound area?

Heroin overdose deaths spike nationwide

The Cartels Next Door: Mexican drug lords corner meth market

“Now, law enforcement estimates that about 90 percent of the meth consumed in the United States comes across the border.”

US Border Patrol, Port Angeles, WA-

A new, $11.9 million, 50 agent facility, secret arrest statistics, denied FOIA requests, heroin in the community & a Border Patrol whistleblower investigation Re: fraudulent overtime that resulted in further suppression of information- keep the focus on asking questions in these areas.

No cross-border USBP arrest has happened here in more than 6 years.

Question for newspeople:

What role do 1,200-horsepower Border Patrol Interceptor boats play in keeping heroin away from the Puget Sound area?

“… their main interaction with the boating public: Boarding boats and checking for ID, getting a “vibe,” as Jeff P. called it, for what’s up.”

Has the Port Angeles Border Patrol been able to intercept any inbound heroin?

Newspeople remain silent.

Discussion on local newspaper FB page-

From comments:

The press should be in the habit of asking questions and working to keep the public informed- no matter which party is in power.
