Real freedom is highly controversial, though we are told it is the primary theme of overseas military operations & several federal holidays.

It took a constitutional amendment to prohibit the sale of a glass of wine- why no constitutional amendment to authorize a federal war on drugs, drug czar, prohibition of marijuana, etc.

In many cases- public policy stands in the way of freedom- no foreign enemy required.
