Still no justification provided by elected officials or the US Border Patrol for an upgrade in staff requiring a new, $11.9 million, 50 agent facility.

Massing US Border Patrol agents at Port Angeles fails to keep heroin out of town. Frequent updates here.

Has anyone ever seen the press question the US Dept. of Homeland Security/CBP on their role in keeping heroin out of the US?

Any TV or radio station, newspaper, magazine or other mainstream media outlet in any of the 50 states? Please post in comments if you know of any occasion where newspeople have questioned DHS as an agency or spoken with any official on this subject.

We are not talking about blogs or alternative media sources. We are not talking about the behavior of political parties or personalities. We are not talking about attitudes Re: The Drug War. We are talking about our free and independent press & what questions are off-limits.

Port Angeles Heroin-

Many stories of addiction, recovery, citizen action, crime & press releases from agencies involved in local busts.
Zero reporting or questions from newspeople about why the US Dept. of Homeland Security is unable to keep heroin out of Port Angeles.

In the news:

Map used by health officials to track where addicts drop syringes in Clallam County

FORKS — “The Clallam County Board of Health will mull ways to fund a naloxone program officials say has saved the lives of nine people from heroin overdoses when it meets Tuesday.”

Clallam commissioners asked to consider heroin problem in next year’s budget

“Clallam County commissioners have been asked to consider the heroin epidemic as they shape next year’s budget.”

“Clallam County’s death rate from prescription opioid and heroin overdose was 29 per 100,000 in 2013, nearly twice the state’s overdose death rate of 14.8 per 100,000, health officials have said.”

The Press-

Seems like post-911 security protocols & the War on Terror would be a drug cartel’s worst nightmare. What does the US Dept. of Homeland Security have to say about all this?

The press remains silent.

If you run a government operation- these are the reporters you want to see on interview day:

Question for newspeople:

What role do 1,200-horsepower Border Patrol Interceptor boats play in keeping heroin away from the Olympic Peninsula?

2011-

“… their main interaction with the boating public: Boarding boats and checking for ID, getting a “vibe,” as Jeff P. called it, for what’s up.”

When is the last time the Port Angeles Border Patrol made an arrest of any kind?

Any arrests connected to the US/Canada border?
